This is an interesting take on the incident at lap 148. Anybody have any thoughts?

Looked to me like Blewett got under TC a little too hot, and washed up into him.

WJ, I think that the video with the stop action on it is pretty conclusive...

Mikey,Mikey,Mikey!
Cut thru the chase, whats your opinion???????????
The 36 gave the 66 NO ROOM. If there was no history between the 2 maybe JB backs out, maybe the 36 gives him the lane. Instead of running the guy in the grass and having a great finish and also still have a chance at the CHAMPIONSHIP TC sealed his own fate. I think if JBIII wanted to pay him back he wouldn't have wrecked himself doing it.All the people that TC has wrecked, I along with just about everyone in the stands that day was glad to see him get HIS! :applause: :applause:

Totally agree. I just wish I was there to see it. TC's ego cost himself the championship. JBlll was going for the win and was faster. TC knew it, but couldn't accept it. Two good cars shot. I feel sorry for Ed Whelan in this mess. TC will cost him plenty of extra $$ if he continues to drive that car.

Mike, I can't see what you are speaking of. The video is too small for me to tell Tire direction, but the 66 is down as far as possible. If he were lower, he'd be in the dirt. I personally think it's a "just racing" thing.

Sorry, seems some people might be a TC fan up in Conn. up in the press box! I don't see it, John had him on the backstretch coming out of turn 2. I'm sure TC 's radio man was in his ear the whole time and by time they came out of turn 2, I'm sure TC saw him on the bottom. He raced him hard entering turn 3. Why would John cut his wheel hard and then in turn wreck himself. If John wanted to move TC, he would have drifted or washed up the track, not cut his wheel!!!
To many people want to jump to conclusions because of the history bewteen the two!

T-Bax, the man with the video camera was standing up by the press box. Right after the incident, I went out to him to see if he had caught it; he did.
In checking it, he was able to stop it just about frame by frame. From what we saw, we brought the camera inside the booth to be displayed to the assembled media. We could clearly see in several frames where JB's right wheels were turned sharply to the right.
Both are experienced drivers. Both know how to drive clean or dirty. Both have a history. Draw your own conclusions...

Best statement I've seen on this so far. Everyone else seems to be a fan of one or the other, and sees it for 'their guy'.

Could the wheel be pulling that way because of contact and the flat tire. How many people have blown a tire at those speeds and kept the wheels straight???Mike , I always thought you were a little crazy, and now I'm sure of it! :) Also how did he turn his "right wheelS"? rear steer too LOL

Doesn't match up to me! I can't see John going for the win and try to gain revenge in the process. I think he was pinned down and it was an accident waiting to happen. But there's got to be more then John turning sharply as he's going for the lead.
Reg knew to stay far enough behind.

Looks like TC came down on John and John's tires made contact with TC's side nurf bars. Did it cut down a tire? Or did John have nowhere to go?
Maybe the guys up in the booth should look again to see TC coming down on John first!

Somebody slowed down the tape on YouTube and it clearly shows TC chop JBlll. Look how low JB has to go into the corner trying to avoid contact until it is too late. I agree with the Bullfather, if JBlll wanted to take TC out ,he wouldn't have done himself too.

Mike, I just don't see that. Sure looks like JBIII's tires are pretty straight until the contact is made. Hard to tell, but that is what it looks like on the slow mo.

Neal, what do you mean you always thought I was crazy? I thought I had already confirmed that years ago! Obviously, I meant his front wheels were turned sharply to the right.
Ted, perhaps it was because he was able to stop the video in the camera completely frame by frame, as opposed to just slowing it down. The media that wanted to look up in the press box all had a good look at it.

Mike, The big question is was it before or after contact?
The Bullfather

HAR HAR... Anyway. I(t) still looks to me there was some contact with TC mod coming down and Blewitt's right front tire before his wheel turned right.

Ted, as I recall, the two cars were together at the time. Whether they were already on their way up to the wall, I don't recall.
A different subject is that I'm hearing that Ed Whelan and Ted Christopher are parting ways after the Fall Final. That is STRICTLY A RUMOR that has yet to be confirmed.

Starting rumors now, aye?!?!?!
My opinion, best thing to do. Will save Ed TONS of $$$$$.

That rumor has been confirmed. It was posted on LI Jam message board by Jaws at 7:37 tonight.
Unfortunately, no word on the status of the other J&S river, Mike Andrews.

The most interesting thing I've seen about all of this is MSS poster "Steve"'s photos. (I would link to them if I could..... mods a little help here??) In them, the tires on the 66 were always rotating. The tires on the 36 were not. Otherwise, I'm leaning towards the thought of two guys who really wanted to win. As fast as it appears the 66 was, I would have thought he would tried a different move. It's all academic anyway.

I know of the photos you are referring to, but they are from after initial contact was made. We would not link them from another site without first getting permission, since like us, all their material is copyrighted. The video is pretty self evident right from the start, and was shot by an employee of racerhub.com.
Bottom line, everyone is going to see what they want to here, from a fan of either driver, to someone who knows neither, or roots for someone else entirely. The real shame is that they didn't get cleanly through turn 3 & 4 and provide everyone with what could have been a very exciting race to the finish line. Oh well, next race, please.

Good point regarding those photos Walter. (never even occured to me)
I guess my attempt at being non partial didn't work either eh?? lol
I agree though...on to the next race. For me that would be the ROC show at MVS tomorrow. Its been over a month since I've been to well ......anything!

I think you did a great job of making your statement in a non-partisan way, Art. As I said in my response, there are 3 opinions you'll get on this, depending on who you talk to at any given moment.
Instead of RoC at MVS, why not consider NELMA at Mountain? It's just an idea, since JA is promoting that race, LOL. Whatever you decide, enjoy, there is precious little racing left for the season. :)

Mr Fields, I was there and saw just the opposite of you. The 66 held his line and the 36 kept pushing him low.

As stated here previously, there are 3 different takes on this one. For the 36, for the 66, and indifference towards both.

Ms. Shea, I'm certianly not going to disagree with your interpretation of what you saw. I was watching several things on the track at once; not just the leaders. When the incident happened, I saw the last part of it--- the two cars sliding up to the wall. So I went right over to the camera operator to request that he re-rack the incident for me. He did several times in slow motion. Then he stopped it in several places.
What I put forth after my initial observation after the two cars made contact from the press box, was what I immediately saw on the video with the benefit of a camera operator that was able to stop his camera frame by frame.
That was also, incidently, made immediately available to any of the media members in the box who wished to view it during the red-flag cleanup. Most of the media crowded around the camera operator to view the video over and over. On the other hand, there were those members that decided that they had no desire to view it at all. Not viewing the video doesn't make them wrong--- it's just their personal "style".
To paraphrase various track officials from local up to regional series have stated, "I rule on a race, not on a replay." It doesn't make them bad people; it's just their personal preference.
Just as I'm entitled to my opinion, you are entitled to yours. That's what racing is all about, isn't it?
