Enduro Points 2007

It was announced at the annual drivers meeting today that all enduro drivers will receive points this season. You MUST actually race to get them, entering brings you nothing. 100 points will be awarded to the winner of each division at each race, with 2nd place getting 95, 3rd place 90, etc. on a 5 point break down to 10th place, which will get 55 points. All others participating in the event will get 50 points, and all points from all events will be totalled for a season winner in each class. This is great news for all of you, and will make the enduro experience here on Long Island a better one. Congrats on getting this accomplished to all who worked so hard to get it. :) :) :)

All divisions is what I got. It also includes demo derby, but only top 3 finishers get points in that.

P.S. Don't worry Rob, you'll get points in that division, too, LOL!

Does that mean the enduro drivers in the points will go to the awards banquet in '07? Will there be a point fund? ( just wondering.) However it ends up is fine with me... also, I would like to thank all officials for thinking of us in the enduros. I'm happy to see any changes that better the enduro divisions.

Here's an explanation on points, straight from Riverhead:

There will be points for all Enduro races at Riverhead Raceway in 2007.

Each race for the Grand, 8-Cylinder, 6-Cylinder, 4-Cylinder and 4/6-Cylinder Trucks will pay 100 points to win, 95 for second with a five point drop off down to 10th. From 11th back will get 50-points for just starting the race, but you must start the race!

The only race that will not be paid points will be the second 8-Cylinder Enduro on each race card, as not everyone re-enters that race for one reason or another, be it mechanical or perhaps financial. Those who used to purposely enter the second race when pre-registering should now enter the first race if they want points in 2007!!!!

I, for one, have always desired some sort of points system. It's great for the top dogs to get their recognition, and an 'official' title at season's end. It's something to strive for, and a great motivational tool, a goal. Another of many improvements for the Enduros.
