There was a meeting held at Thompson last night to discuss the "Flash" events for the modified tour. Stefanik was on Sirius radio this morning with Pat Patterson (and will be again this weekend), and explained the concept, and his displeasure with it.

It is going to be the series of triple 50's, with the first two as heats, and then the last as the feature. It will pay less money, but it will be shorter so it should save equipment (yeah...that will happen)... And... you only get 4 tires for the NIGHT... cut a tire down after your 4, and you are 2 laps down AUTOMAGICALLY!!!... Sounds like fun.

So. These "heats" will be pretty boring, since you can't get too racy and chew your tires up, because you can't get new ones for the final feature.

Flash... you've just paid $30 for another boring race.

At least Wall gets the first one, perhaps they will make some changes before it gets to Riverhead.

Does anybody know how the cars will be lined up for the Heat Races? Points? Pick out of a hat?

From what I understand, the odd numbered cars will be in the first heat; even numbered cars in the 2nd. How they line up? Well, that's another question...

That makes no sense. There might be 23 odd numbered cars and 10 even numbered cars. Odd numbered drivers in points and even numbered drivers in points might make sense, but again, how do you line them up.

TBax, I'm pretty sure that Mike was referring to their position in the point standings, not their actual car numbers. I've heard that the actual heat line-ups will be determined by drawing numbers, but that's not confirmed as of now. Maybe Towerman will come by and enlighten us all.

From what I heard, it was according to points. It stinks for Riverhead guys.

There will be 2 separate drawings to start the heats. The top 20 in Whelen Mod Tour Points Will Draw For The First 10 spots in each heat race. I assume odd numbers in one, even in the other. The remainder of the cars at the race with draw for spots 11 to whatever. They will take the top 13 cars out of each heat and then give out whatever provisionals to fill the field. As has been the case, I'm sure no Riverhead provisionals will be offered.

The first race at Wall will be using the 2006 WMT point standings... I think they will be using the current standings by the time they get to Riverhead..
