Last Sunday Lancaster Raceway Park opened the gates on the 2007 season and the Young Guns were on hand in the DeLange Modifieds. Bobby Holmes of Lockport was at the wheel of the #22 Original Pizza Logs Modified hoping to get a leg up on the 2007 track Modified championship. Teenage sensation Erick Rudolph was making his debut in the #45 Original Pizza Logs Modified hoping to get a garner a good finish. Unfortunately neither of them got what they were hoping for.

A solid field of 20 Modifieds was on hand. Both drivers qualified through their heat race. Holmes lined up the DeLange #22 in the sixth starting spot. He quickly fell into line and it looked like Lady Luck was on his side this day as he managed to avoid a devastating frontstretch crash on lap three. He was sixth on the restart and quickly began to move forward. Soon he was up to second and a torrid battle with race leader Patsy Catalano ensued. That challenge ended at the halfway mark in the race when contact between the two sent Catalano sliding through the infield. Bobby was sent to the rear of the field by track officials. He was methodically working his way back to the front when a tangle with two other cars in turn three ended his race. He was credited with a 13th place finish.

Rudolph was making his first-ever start in a Modified driving the #45 car. He started from the 12th starting position in the feature and was just getting settled in when he was involved in the accident on lap three. His car suffered significant damage and his race ended at that point, earning him a disappointing 20th place finish.

The Young Guns hope to turn their season around and celebrate Mother’s Day this coming Sunday afternoon at Oswego Speedway. Both DeLange Original Pizza Logs Modifieds will be on hand for the opening race on the 2007 Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour schedule, the Parts Plus 75 in the Coca-Cola Kickoff. Holmes and Rudolph are both looking for good finishes as they chase the RoC Tour Central Region championship. On Saturday night Rudolph will be making his first-ever start in the #12 Original Pizza Logs/PrimeTyme Motorsports/Brigham Concrete SST Sportsman at Lancaster. Both drivers have put last weekend behind them and look for a good restart for 2007.
