True Value Modified's Ready For Waterford Showdown

The True Value Modified Racing Series travels to the historic Waterford, CT; Speedbowl Saturday night June 9, and if the previous race in April is any indication, New England modified fans are in for a special treat. The stars and cars of the TVMRS will do battle in “The Town Fair 100”, a repeat of the earlier event that saw over 50 modified race teams turn out to compete.

Waterford regulars Kenny Horton and Jeff Pearl will represent the “home team” roster as guaranteed starters, both winners of recent qualifying events. Local hero Rob Summers is expected back to try and put the broom to the competition and “sweep” both TVMRS races. Current point leader and two time champion Kirk Alexander,Swanzey, NH; will head up the “visitors team”, along with a red hot Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT; a winner at Monadnock and Canaan this season, plus a host of other top race teams from throughout the northeast that compete with the traveling fourth year tour. And if that is not enough, add to the mix the always exciting Plainville, CT; hot shoe Ted Christopher and a guaranteed starter spot for the Sunoco Race Fuels Mod Mania weekend in September, at Thompson Speedway, Thompson, CT; and it makes for a promising night of modified racing at the famed Shore Line oval. Horton, Pearl, Christopher and Doug Coby will all see double duty action as they will compete in the host tracks’ SK modified division.

Defending champion Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT; always a threat, is also entered as is Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA; Ed Dachenhausen, Danbury, CT; Dale Evonsion, E. Harland. CT; Mike Holdridge, Madison, CT; Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH; and Todd Patnode, Swanzey, who finished runner up in the April race.

Saturday’s race will be a 100 lap green flag event. It will also be the second in a series of six events to become a guaranteed starter in the 75 lap special event at Thompson Speedway come September. Alexander won the first qualifier two weeks ago at Monadnock in New Hampshire.

12 lap qualifying races and a 15 lap consolation race will determine the starting lineup for the 100 feature race. If enough participants are on hand, a 20 lap “B” feature will be run in place of the consolation race.

Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT; Tom Abele, Norwich, CT and Seuss will be signing autographs at the TVMRS booth Saturday.

Grandstands open at 2:00 PM with TVMRS heat races beginning at

4:30 PM. Waterford Speedbowl is located off Exit 77, Rte 395.
