Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson teams fined

I just heard both crew chiefs were suspended 6 races, fined $100,000 and 100 driver points were deducted.
In my opinion, I'm not sure this will hurt either team.

The points will hurt, the rest they can cover out of petty cash and the deep experience levels in their shops. Now, 100 points AND a week off, like it's done at the local level, that would be different.

100 points won't hurt Gordon at all. He still has a big point lead. I agree that a week off would hurt, but I think that would be a much too harsh penalty for this case. Even the current penalty is too much. And when did you ever see anyone get a week off at Riverhead?

Umm, I know someone who got 2 weeks off, lol. I, yes I, even had a week off. I still have the letter from daytona, lol. Ahh the good old days.

I knew that Wayne was likely to get a week off. I asked about it before I left the track on Sat. night, and they told me it would be announced later in the week. Now it's here, and besides the actual fact that it happened, I hope it sends the message that unruly behavior will not go unnoticed, or unpunished.
