Erick Rudolph of Ransomville headed east last Friday night with the #12 Original Pizza Logs SST Sportsman. The talented teenager was making his first-ever appearance at Spencer Speedway in Williamson , New York . Rudolph proved to be a quick study, as he finished second in the first of two 20-lap SST features on the tricky half-mile oval, and then followed that up with a solid fifth place finish in the second SST feature. The young driver was pleased with his performance.

“I think the positions we finished don’t reflect how good the car was tonight,” explained Rudolph. “It was strong but things happened, like all the yellows that seemed to fly every couple of laps. This is definitely a different track than what I’ve raced on before. But even though it was different it was a lot of fun to race on it. There is an outside groove you can use if your car is working. That makes it a lot of fun because there are two grooves to race in.”

DeLange Racing is pleased to announce that the Young Guns will be head to Spencer Speedway on Friday night, July 27, to drive the team’s Modifieds for the very first time at the flat half-mile oval in a NASCAR sanctioned 30-lap feature. More details will follow in the coming weeks.

On Saturday Bobby Holmes of Lockport joined his teammate as the DeLange Young Guns headed to Lancaster Raceway Park with the Original Pizza Logs Modifieds for a 75-lap Race of Champions Modified Tour event. A late afternoon rain shower caused the cancellation of the night’s program after prerace practice. On Monday afternoon it was announced by LRP that the RoC North Region event has been rescheduled for this Saturday night.

An important weekend is coming for the DeLange Racing team and its young drivers. Rudolph will be competing for the first time on Friday night at Black Rock Speedway, a four-tenths mile dirt oval in Dundee , New York . He will be racing a 600cc micro sprint in a 20-lap feature sanctioned by the New York Modified Midgets. Headlining the night’s program will be a visit by several familiar faces from the Indy Racing League, who will be competing this coming weekend at nearby Watkins Glen International. The special appearance has been organized by television announcer and part-time racer Jack Arute and several IRL personalities will be competing in an exhibition race as well as greeting the fans. On Saturday night the DeLange Young Guns will return to Lancaster for the rescheduled Race of Champions Modified Tour event.

DeLange Racing has just received some brand new Erick Rudolph T-shirts and sweatshirts that will be available at Lancaster on Saturday night. Fans are encouraged to stop by and check out the merchandise, get an autograph from the Young Guns and talk racing with the teams. We love our fans!
