50TH ANNUAL GARDEN STATE CLASSIC 100 AT WALL THIS SATURDAY, JULY 21ST

Wall Twp. NJ - Wall Township Speedway is proud to present the 50th Annual Garden State Classic for the Whelen All American Series Modifieds this Saturday night, July 21st. The Modifieds will be competing in a 100 lap event with over $5,000 dollars in lap money posted on top of a large purse for this historic event. Don Ling Sr. of Ling Trucking and Tim Shinn from United Crane have put up $1,000 dollars in lap money for lap 66 in memory of the late Tom Comerford who passed away earlier this year. Tom Comerford was a regular at Wall for many years in the Modifieds driving the Ling Racing 66 during the 1980's. Lap sponsorships are still available at $50 dollars per lap, contact the track office at 732-681-6400 between 10am and 5pm for more details. Racing starts at 6PM with Modified Time Trials followed by heat races.

The Garden State Classic has become a New Jersey asphalt racing tradition over the last half century. Past winners in just the last 25 years include NASCAR Nextel Cup stars Jimmy Spencer and Martin Truex Jr., as well as Modified heroes Gil Hearne, Jamie Tomaino, Charlie Jarzombek, Tom Mauser, Jimmy and John Blewett, and 8 time track champion Dave Michel. John Blewett III is the defending 2006 race winner. Steven Reed, Justin Gumley, Kevin Flockhart, Chas Okerson, Shaun Carrig and Jason Hearne and the rest of the Wall Modified regulars will be looking to add their names to this esteemed list of Garden State Classic winners.

The INEX Legend Cars, Value Towing Factory Stocks, and Street Stocks will also be competing.

In the INEX Legends, most recent winner Mike Stull will be looking to hold off the challenges of Mike Fulton, Ronnie Poley and Mark Tischler.

Vern McLaughlin looks to continue his hot streak as of late, taking his 3rd win of the 2007 season last Saturday. He will be challenged by Richard Petey, Nick Shaw, and Danny Collamer for the win this Saturday night in the exciting Value Towing Factory Stock division.

John McCormack took down his second feature event of the season in the Street Stocks July 7th as he, Ron Frees, Bill Vanderveen and Ray Minieri try to chase down current point leader Rich Mongeau.

The RMP Modified Affordable Division and Sportsman division are off July 21st but will return July 28th.
