Does anyone recall the night of the accident? He passed away a couple of weeks later right? Or was it that night. Was having a discussion about it with someone and we disagreed. thanks

It was a number of weeks later that Walt passed away in Stony Brook University Medical Center due to complications from the injuries suffered in that accident.

That was a horrible night and that being said I say let Walt rest in peace and for those of us that were there it's something we will always remember. For those that weren't there Walt would want to be remembered in a good way and not this way....so lets move on and Walt rest in peace and happy racing up there with the best of the best. This is just my feelings on this.

Agreed, no reason to hash over bad memories here. People who want to know more can ask their friends and get the story in a less public manner than rehashing it on here. Walt was good for racing, and will be missed by many forever.

It was a terrible night...I meant no disrespect by bringing it up. Hope non is taken. May he rest in peace.

On that note, we will close this thread. I never had the good fortune of meeting Walt, but I heard so many great things. May his soul rest with the best in racing heaven.
