KEN SCHRADER SET TO RACE AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8TH. SPECIAL MEET AND GREET TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE.

KIRKWOOD, NY…The popular Ken Schrader is set to race at Five Mile Point Speedway as part of a major night of racing at the quarter mile. Schrader will be making his fourth racing start at the speedway over a long and storied career. Schrader ran in his first FMP event in a USAC Midget Car back in the late 1980’s. He returned to the speedway in 1990 behind the wheel of a Chuck Akulis Modified. Schrader went on to finish second on that night behind weekly campaigner Joe Donahue, Jr. Last year Schrader returned behind the wheel of a second Stewart Friesen Modified and had a steady run and wound up finishing 14th.

Five Mile Point Speedway owner Andrew Harpell remarked, “It is a very tough transition running one of our dirt Modifieds, they are certainly unique to any other type of dirt race car.” He added, “Last year Stewart (Friesen) was on a tear entering the event but the track was much different for this race as we had tore up the surface and rain got in it.” “The team missed the setup in the Schrader car but he battled all night and had a solid run in the 75 lapper.”

This year Schrader will go up against the best IMCA Modified drivers in the northeast. The IMCA event is an Empire State Tour race which will mean all of the best drivers in the class will be on hand. Schrader will be behind the wheel of a second Dale Caswell owned car. Caswell is the current national IMCA Modified point leader and the car that Schrader will be in is brand new. Schrader owns his own UMP Modified which is very similar to the IMCA Modified cars. Schrader had originally planned on bringing his own car to compete but minor differences in the engine rules between the two sanctioning bodies will make the Caswell ride a much easier transition. Schrader has been on a tear recently winning a number of UMP Modified dirt events in the south.

Special “meet and greet” tickets will be available on Wednesday, August 8th. The “meet and greet” tickets will include a grandstand admission ticket, a ticket to the V.I.P Hospitality tent, a catered barbecue dinner from the Ramblin’ Pig in Conklin, NY – a chance to meet Ken Schrader, receive autographs and take part in an question and answer session. The “meet and greet” package will also include a pit tour and special prize pack. All of this is available to fans for the cost of $60. Last year the “meet and greet” tickets sold out on race night and the early sales have been strong. You can reserve your tickets by calling the speedway office and using your major credit card.

The action on the track will be intense as the Race of Champions Dart Dirt Tours will have a south region double header. The race will serve as the south region point championship on the R.o.C trail and all of the top names will be in action. The Modifieds will do battle in a 75 lapper and the Sportsman will race in a 40 lapper. Race time has been moved to 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 5:00 p.m.
