After all my begging and pleading, you finally get back into a Modified and get a respectable 10th place in your 1st race in almost 10 years. Sorry I wasn't there to see it. Hopefully, there will be a return performance.:)

How sad is it that This Thread, regarding the return of a Long Island living legend got zero responses and the "other thread" is non stop. Very sad.

Ted; I made a copy of your post. I'll get it to Chum Monday. Thanks. The rascal never said he was going, or I would have been there too.

Don was on Hampton Jitney's bus trip to Dover in June. We talked a lot about him racing again. (OK, I talked, he kindly listened):) I got the impression that it was better than a long shot. I was hoping it would be the week of the tour race. I'm pretty bummed I missed it, but just as glad that he did it, and got a top 10.

I am very happy to hear that such a classy guy has returned to Riverhead, sorry it was on a night I missed. But I will be there next week to watch him run once more, and maybe help return some 'fun' to racing. :applause:

Man we need more drivers like you to come back and make the track fun to come to again.

I agree with the above post, sad that the crap between the 2 and the 15 takes center stage.

Don was in the white 02, he kept quite the whole race. Due to incidents his 10th place made it look better. I believe he was in the car to help fill the field. It was great though to see him back on the track. I don't know if held back or not, but if given the "GO" he would have gone because the 02 machine can "GO"! And, we all know Don Howe can "GO"! :O) hopefully see will see that again. GO Don Howe, welcome back even if was for one night.

It's hard to believe that it has been 35 years since I first saw Don Howe race a modified. One of the classiest guys to ever strap into a mod. Good luck in your return, Chum!

***** I remember rooting for him as a kid. One of his buddies delivers diesel each week and always yalks with us about the goings of the track and Don.

I guess its a shame that he had to pick THIS week to buckle back in.

Let's hope it was not the last week.

Don Howe, one of the good old boys. Would love to hear from you anout how it felt to be behind the wheel again after all these years. You were a h*ll of a driver Don. Smooth as silk with a shot at the Checkers every week.

Sorry I missed you back on the track.

Don's 1st Modified Track Championship was in 1973. I believe he was only 10 years old at the time.:D

Chum has always been a class act on and off the track. He is an old school driver who actually knows how to race. I too missed the show this week, but can't wait to see him run next week if he does...

Tell him with a little advanced notice, turn 2 would have been packed from the Trailer to the Scoreboard. Please ask him if this is going to be repeated this saturday. Thanks.
