I just read DEI won't let Junior run the #8 next year with his new team....SIGH.
That's a shame,it seems it's gotten ugly between the teams.:mad:

That's ok, think of all the royalties he will make on all the new products he will be selling with his new number. Money talks. It would be nice to keep the old number, but when you start talking millions of dollars in novalties...........JR can't lose. Let DEI keep the number 8 and watch all the dumpsters fill with old #8 paraphernalia.

While NASCAR actually owns the numbers for the cars, teams are given the 'first right of refusal' as to whether they give them up or not once they've registered the number.
Randomrodder is right, they'll make a ton of money on all the new Jr. related race items that hit the market. They would have made some either way, since Bud wasn't going with the deal to begin with.
