John is now in some heady company...
I recall John lying, half asleep, on the asphalt at So. Boston Speedway before the Tour's one and only race there. He looked very relaxed and content then...
The funniest thing I can recall was at Stafford in 2001(?) when Carl Pasteryak hooked him and spun John like a top; he stopped in the middle of the back stretch and was out of his car almost before it'd stopped spinning. I can still see him hotfooting it toward turn 2, jumping on Carl's cowling and ripping at his ignition wires as he idled through the turn.
That was John - tough as nails - a great father and brother - un-phased and relaxed...a winner.
I still smile and shake my head over the Stafford incident - as someone else wrote, on another list, "Its not right"
John, Shalom, good sleep and see ya someday
