As written by Bob Finan in the "Eye on Riverhead". So I guess everyone can stop all the closing rumors again.

"Barbara & Jim Cromarty announce 2008 opening weekend!!! The 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Riverhead Raceway is not even in the record books and already Barbara & Jim Cromarty told me this afternoon in a phone conversation that the 2008 season will open on Saturday May 3rd and Sunday May 4th. The two pre-season practice days will be Saturday April 16th and Saturday April 26th and yes indeed Barbara and Jim Cromarty will again be the track owners and promoters!"

Some other interesting tidbits in the "Eye" to read from Bob, so check it out.

The WMT date is announced by NASCAR, then the track. I doubt they are that far advanced with next year's schedule yet.

Thanks Walt. I know I`ll be getting the Pocono renewal around Labor day weekend for the 2nd race of 2008. Just was hoping they aren`t the same weekend this year.

The schedule is not out, just the announcement of the practice dates and what weekend the season will open on. Let's all be patient.

Oh yeah, all should read beyond the first paragraph of the "Eye" for some rules that will be enforced next year. :applause:

They should give every division 2 weeks off except the mods. We usually get 2 or 3 rainouts a year, so that's up to 5 weeks off. Run the trucks everyweek too. Let's get the racing back to the 'head. Stafford runs every division everyweek. With the low car counts, they don't even need heats for half of the classes. Hopefully have better car counts next year.:)

Yeah, that's what you want to do, hit that CONCRETE wall with your plastic snow mobile body.

The regular racing season would be nice if it went a little bit longer, but it's been shortened by the fact that so many tracks run 'specials' that attract Riverhead drivers, and they wouldn't have much of a field of cars if they did run. Besides, it gives them an early start on their Florida Winter vacation.
