View Full Version : Tee Shirt Contest for JBIII

Precision Auto

Norm and I wanted to do something in the way of the John Blewett III memorial tee-shirts to help C&C Racing Souvenirs meet their goal for the John Blewett IV Education Fund.

So......I'm going to put this question out to The Chrome Horn Board:

What year did Precision Automotive start in business?

There may be a year or years listed in our profile, it may nor may not be the year. You'll have to take your chances! I can't make it too easy!!

The first ten (10) people to get the year correct will get two (2) JBIII memorial tee shirts.

I'll give one hint: it's between 1960 and 1980...

Rules: NO calling Precision Automotive to try and get the answer! Norm has been forwarned!!

Anyone can guess, including Racer Hub personnel (Richie, JA, Howie, Fran, etc.),but only one guess per person.

Once I get the ten people in, I will post the results and ask you to please e-mail me at my home e-mail address and provide me with the sizes you want.

Good luck for a good cause.

Linda and Norm, Precision Automotive, Inc.

Well, as people are getting home from work and going on-line, I'll give it some time.........probably around 8:00 p.m. this evening I'll see if anyone is close and go from there.

By the way, one additional hint, for those creative people, it IS NOT the date we became incorporated. It was before that........(but nice try Kevin!!)

I consider the "date" we started in business as the "first day Norm and Dale walked in the door, cracked open a bottle of champagne and took on their first customer." At that time we were not a corporation.
So the "year only" is before 1979..........

Now, as to how many years before we were incorporated......I can't give that hint!!

After a little research (OK, a lot of research) I agree and say 1970.

And Linda, you said nothing about calling or visiting the Case household, just a short trip and I could be there...

Howie: I'm 53 and Norm is waaaaaaaaaaaaay older than me!!! LOL

I'll try to check back once more tonight, I'm thinking that by 11:00 we'll have our first two winners. Then I'm just going to let the rest of you figure out who's right.........

Let the games continue..........

Okay guys - my last clue:

No one has come up with the correct year.......

But one person is one year off.

So you're going to have to do some checking and rechecking and submit your "final-final" answers!

By the way Ben, you can come to the case household. Bring a pizza from Roma's on your way!! LOL

Good luck........I'll be back later........Linda

I have gone back through all three pages and can tell you that the correct number is out there.........

Go for it guys.........:applause:

I'll be on the Horn for another hour yet..........can't wait to give away 20 JBIII memorial tee-shirts........but I do need to get the first ten, so let's hope a few more people come on the thread before I head to bed! Linda

Going by the last "clue" we were given, and the posts at the time, it may be 74 or 73. If not that leaves 61, 63, 64.

So my absolute almost final final guess is 1974

BTW wouldn't it be 358 days?

Sure, now the rules change again, in the middle of the night. It's NOT 1974.

Precision Auto
09-06-2007, 10:44 PM

OK - with the latest "hint" supplied, I'm going with KyleMac and 1977. With that it's time to go watch the weather and Leno. I'll look in the morning to see who besides Kyle and me have won. Load it up with 77s and 74s folks (Like I know what I'm talking about)

Thanks for the fun and especially for helping out a good cause Linda.

Bet I could go on who wants to be a millionaire and win the penny.

P.S. Can't even get that right, there is no Leno there's a football game on - is this Monday?

Precision Auto

Okay gang: the correct answer was to "what year did Precision Automotive first open it's doors for business: Answer: 1974

Order of the Top 10 winners for two tee shirts:

1. Richie Grodski
2. Fran Lawlor
3. Ben Althen
4. Howie Hodge
5. Modman 75
6. Linda
7. Ground Pounder
8. Kyle Mac
9. GoModsGo
10. Axel

I will explain the method to my madness:

1. Precision Automotive first opened their doors on 9 Herman Drive in Simsbury, Connecticut on January 1, 1974. A bottle of champagne between two friends who had previously worked for Daniels Cadillac in Hartford (now Thomas Cadillac)....and a partnership was born. And a darn good one I might add!

2. On June 30, 1979, Precision Automotive officially became incorporated.

3. What I was looking for, and got from 10 people, was the answer to #1 above.

That being said, this is the info I need from the Top 10:

1. Please, Please, Please e-mail me at Mrmrsmotor@aol.com.
Do not PM me through the board.

2. Your full name
3. Your complete address
4. What sizes you need

I'm not sure how long it will take to get the shirts in, but as I will post a thread when the shirts are in. They will be going out via United Parcel Service through Precision Automotive, Inc. in Simsbury, Connecticut.

I hope you all had fun - for a very good cause........thanks for taking part.
