DOUBLE POINTS FOR INEX LEGEND CARS THIS SATURDAY AT WALL TOWNSHIP SPEEDWAY
by Mike Clayton

WALL TWP., NJ -- Wall Township Speedway will host 6 divisions of racing this Saturday night, September 29th. Spectator gates open at 4pm, with qualifying races starting at 6:30pm. The INEX Legend Cars will be running for double points in their 25 lap feature. The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modifieds (40 laps), Street Stocks (25 laps), RMP Modified Affordable Division (25 laps), Sportsman (25laps), and Value Towing Factory Stocks (20 laps) will also be competing in regularly scheduled features. To show how competitive the season has been, all 6 point titles are still undecided. This Saturday night will be one of two remaining events for the coveted Wall Township Speedway Track Championships. There are still 165 points up for grabs in the two final point races of the season.

Saturday, October 6th will be the Scott Motor Coach Sales Season Finale, with double points awarded to all divisions excluding the INEX Legends. The Oct. 6th races will also be Turkey Derby XXXIV qualifiers, with winners in all 6 weekly divisions gaining guaranteed starting spots in the historic NJ event. The Turkey Derby was started in 1974 by the late Tom and Jennie Nichol as a final Northeast special racing event that attracts fans and competitors from all over the east coast. It has been run each Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving for 34 years, this year the 2007 TD is set for for November 23rd and 24th.

Kevin Flockhart in the Scisco Racing/Crestwood Jewelers #12 showed he is not laying down in the championship battle for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modifieds. He won his 5th feature of 2007 last Saturday and now sits only 31 points behind leader Steven Reed in the #55. 3rd place #99 Chas Okerson, #91 Shaun Carrig, #77 Mike Carpenter, and #33 Jason Treat all still have a mathematical chance of winning the title for the modifieds. This Saturday will mark the final points race of the year for the NASCAR National Points Champion in the Whelen All-American Series.

Street Stock point leader Rich Mongeau, driver of the #77 A-Plus Fratto Brothers car won not only his 3rd win of 2007, but he became the all-time Street Stock winner in the division, adding his 36th career victory in the class. This apparently has not phased 2nd place point man Ron Frees in the #43, as he still sits just 17 points back with two races to go. #1 Ray Minieri, #12 John McCormack, and the #19 of Bill Vanderveen round out the top 5 and are all still in the running for the track title in the Street Stocks.

Kevin Eyres in the Avis #21 still leads the pack in the Sportsman Division with 7 wins and 719 points. The track and competitors are making efforts to rebuild this division for 2008 with many more cars expected to challenge next season. #99 Chas Okerson still sits 2nd, 14 points back, but last weeks winner #77 Charlie Kremer III, #5 Dave Green, and #14 Elliott Wohl all still have a chance to catch the leader before the season ends.

In the RMP Modified Affordable Division, Danny Bohn took his 6th win of the year in the Reid Sod Farm #659 and extended his current point lead. The other top 4 title hopefuls, #97 Robert Geibel, #2 Kevin Eyres, #48 Kevin Davison, and the #09 of Scott Riggleman are the only teams that still have a hope of unseating defending champ Bohn.

INEX Legends point leader Mike Fulton in the #90 Ideal Auto Body car helped his title effort with another win last Saturday, bringing his win total to 3 for the season. 110 points being awarded to this weeks winner, he hopes to fend off 2nd place man Dan Roslin in the #03, #64 Ronnie Poley, #88 Stephen Stull, #19 Don Nuels, and 6th place holder #0 Mark Tischler. These 5 drivers are the only ones who may have a shot at defeating Fulton for the championship at Wall.

McLaughlin Motorsports driver Vern McLaughlin III has the brightest hopes of winning the title in the Value Towing Factory Stock division with 2 races left. The #06 pilot won his 5th race of the year, and extended his already large lead to 85 points over second place driver Nick Shaw in the #66. McLaughlin's teammate #6 Richard Petey and the #42 of 3 time winner Danny Collamer are the only other drivers with a chance of defeating McLaughlin for the crown.
