Ok folks...
Strap yourself in for this proposal for downtown Riverhead, announced in the 09/27 Riverhead News Review.
This plan was submitted shortly after the 4-1 vote for our ski village.

He must be a race fan!!

I'll bet he has a better chance than the ski resort!

I went to high school with the man who submitted the plan. I remember having a long talk with him about the racetrack a few years back, and I believe since then he has some sponsorship on a car (Chris Young's I believe but don't hold me to that).

I had a good chuckle when I read it.

If nothing else, the gentleman makes a valid point. They (The Town Board) opened the door to taller structures being okay, and you had to know it would only be a matter of time before someone proposed something else.
Hey, maybe Riverhead will become the next Manhattan!

What's the deal with the undeveloped land? 500 acres?? Stop me if I'm wrong, but, Riverhead is about 20 acres. That's 25 times more property than Riverhead. IMO. Why not use that land for a track?

Maybe they want it for buffer/undevelopment/presevation?
You never know. They may have found that it may be the home of the elusive California slender salamander, native of West Coast and they can't destroy the home to the 2 they found....LOL

That's too short, the ski place is 350, he needs to be at 375, then someone else at 425....Just like Manhattan...with the Chrysler building and the Empire State...

The 500 acres is the parts of the 755 acres that will not have anything built on them. So, anything that has trees, grass, plantings of any sort, counts as part of the 500 acres, even if it is a 100' X 100' expanse of grass outside the entrance to the ski monster...er mountain, or the 25' X 25' lawn outside of the restrooms. Bottom line: if nothing is buit on the land, it is considered 'undeveloped'.
