OK! The race is on!!!

I can finally make this public! We were told at the MUTHA, that Mahoning Valley Speedway has closed its doors for the final time...ever. The management is not sure if there will ever be racing there again. This means, we are on the search!

NEETS is looking for a new home for 2008! I know a lot of people are talking about an asphalt track...some want to go to dirt...

Voice your opinions here! Let us know what you think! Let me know who you KNOW!!! If you know someone or you have any connections somewhere, pass along the info...

A couple of suggestions so far...Wall Township Speedway, may be NJ rules, but it is a wonderful facility! Grandview Speedway, may be dirt, but I know a lot of people would stick with NEETS if we went there.

Also, even if we can lock up a few dates here and there, we can bring back the travelling series!!! First we need to make contact! I have already called both WTS and G.view, they are thinking things over...

We need either a home for 08, or a date or two...even if we rent a track out somewhere, that would work! Give me some ideas!

BUT...I am going to be busy today, taking a test, from 12-3...so call me after that! Thanks!!!

You know my pick for a track would be Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey, just about an hour south of Wall. I know a good amount a guys there WOULD build a car to race, including myself, I can bet you that!!!
They have both 1/4 mile dirt and 5/8 mile dirt. Great, great track to race at.
They've held LARGE ENDUROs there in the past, then made it a monthly, then weekly series (Outlaw Stocks) I remember a few years back they were getting 100 plus. About 5 or 6 years ago they held a 6/8 cyl enduro that started 137 cars, five wide, stop and go start, nearly 30 rows deep raping from the start/finish line around turn four, around turn three and started down the back stretch. They run transponders there now so scorers SHOULD NOT be needed. Even though SOME drivers may not think so, they do have a good and helping staff as well.

At the Turkey Derby I'll try and whisper a few well placed words and hope for the best...........................
Don't get your hopes up though, the Wall management isn't usually very receptive to us.........................:help:
Maybe, with the right sponsor($$$$$$), the hazelton hebrew might weaken........................

Nothing for nothing, but wasn't NEETS originally to be a touring series?
How about asphalt AND dirt?
Get 2 or 3 or 4 tracks for next year....
Just a thought....

Rgee...if it's possible!

Petey...you may be on the right path there...but first we need the sponsors!

Also, naming tracks is good...but if you can send me an email with names, that is what we really need! Like I said, I placed a few calls already, but a few more wouldn't hurt either...give me some names!

You are 100% correct Richie!.......................
But it's such a hassle getting the individual tracks to book a date...................:disgusted
All they care about is how many cars are you gonna bring through the back gate...............
Plus, if they have a division that's close to the NEETS cars, the locals wanna join in....................................:help:
But sometimes their closest division means we gotta run up against full-blown S/S or pro-stocks, hehe...............
Whatever happened to the promoters who used the front gate to make money...........................
I'll follow the series anywhere, but the road shows are murder.................:disgusted

If Mahoning is not closing, I guess we pissed them off or something? Put to much antifreeze on the track? Grandview sounds good if they will take us! or Wall:help:

Touring on asphalt and dirt. Wall, Mountain, New Egypt, Bridgeport, then when the tour is doing well and the track gets their permits to have more than one car on the track at a time maybe we could include a road course on the tour at Englishtowns Raceway Park.
WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME
It's very possible with the right minds putting it together, and the right amount of sponsorship. We all have to remember, though, that each track and its promoter is in the buisiness to make money, and if we can't show them that they can make money, then they are usually not interested. The best way to prove profits will be made is to have the car counts grow, and with that being said, I am hoping on being able to, and willing to provide several cars, maybe a dozen or so for people to race if we have a place to race at. A big sponsor can also influence a track promoter, but a sponsor generally wants to see a profitable return for their investment as well. Through my experience of dealing with a wide variety of companies that I have approached for sponsorships over the years, I have come to the conclusion that the best sponsor that you could bring profits to is an internet company. No matter where you are at, you can always bring a potential customer or client to the sponsor by them logging onto the world wide web and going shopping. The sponsor would benefit even more by the tour, because then we would be advertising their company at several different locations.
So if anyone knows a www dot company that may be interested, pass that information along to Joe or Erin, otherwise an automotive related company is another good one to approach. Atlantic City is loaded with money. They actually have so much they don't know what to do with it. A casino would be a great sponsor for NEETS. I hosted an end of the year race car show party back in in 2005. I actually obtained about 20 sponsors just for the event, and one of them was the TROPICANA Casino and Resort owned by Donald Trump. I called the main office up and spoke with the person in charge of advertisements and promotions, and they were very willing to make a donation to a local Saturday night race car driver who happened to be hosting a car show party. I actually could not beleive how easy it was, if you know the right way to make the approach.
The best thing for most of the drivers and teams to do is keep building more cars.
Well, that's all Im going to say about this for now. I wish NEETS the best of luck, and Joe knows I am willing to help with whatever I am capable of.

My first choice for a home track would be Wall. Second choice would be Grandview:drool: But Mr. Goop, or anybody else, does Grandview have a transponder system?

p.s. the bad word of the week is "transponder"

Gary Silverman would probably know if they have a transponder system at Grandview as he has been there videoing plenty.

Err... you had to bring me into this. Yes Grandview has the AMB transponder timing and scoring system.

I don't know though if the track has an inventory of rental units though.

To clear up any confusion about MVS, here is a message from Gena.

"As of right now the track is not officially sold! Please don't listen to what anyone else has to say - Joe Cutri is very confused and had no right to post that on his forum.

As soon as Doug and I get a final answer as to what the future holds for the speedway we will post it immediately."

Thank You,
Gena

Bling, both Erin and I were told to start looking for a place to race for 2008. Without many contacts, I need to turn to people who do know people in higher positions. Who better than NEETS' very own racers?

It was posted up because I won't lead my racers along blindly while they think that we are racing at MVS again. If the track is open, good! More power to Gena and Doug and good luck on another season. If it is not, NEETS isn't going to just shrivel up and die because we sat around comfy and waited for the bad news.

We are looking for a new home for NEETS for 2008...for whatever reason you want to call it, we won't be returning to MVS. I am not confused. I do have a right to announce to MY racers what their future holds. If word spreads, then maybe this could have been handled differently by someone who has just as much to lose... Am I right? I have my series, my racers and our future to worry about...not someone else's... If Gena didn't want me to say anything here, then she should have told me... I told her that morning I was going to have to tell my driver's something...I never told them the track was sold, they won't be opening...etc...I DID tell them that we will be parting ways peacefully.

I've been flooded with calls since Sunday regarding what happened, what we are doing, where we can go... I am not going to lie to my racers and give them a false hope. If I have bad news, then I have bad news...I'm not going to sugar coat it or drag my feet about it and make people believe in me if I know I can't do what I am telling them... That's just me...sorry!

They're building a new track in Milville NJ. I'd love to run Wall. Even the infield track. Driving schools like (PDA) rent the road course track at Pocono raceway for the day. Sometimes they hold a race along with the driving school. Maybe you could rent an hour from them and have a race for one hour with all the cars and trucks running at once? Maybe we could find a big old parking lot race in? Let's rent some town somewhere and race through the streets.

Mahoning is not closing.

I think I had it explained to me that the property has been sold. That there is a lease for the track which could get terminated resulting in no more racing under the current track management. Not to say that there would never be racing there again but the likelyhood is there.
 Is that accruate?
I'm just trying to understand. What is going on there?

I will race anywhere with NEETS.
NJ tracks add more cost to building the cars because of NJ state laws. Fuel cells, age of safety belts, 4 point roll cage, on an on.
I prefer asphalt to dirt and PA to NJ but still stand by the first sentence. I have been racing the 4 cylinders but I'm also building a 6/8 cylinder. It's just time and money. I wish I could race in all the classes every race.
I will also do all I can to promote the series and help with the electronic scoring or wherever else my skills may benefit.

You don't need a fuel cell to race New Egypt.

What exactly are the rules for Enduros in New Jersey? At the last event at New Egypt, many cars did not have a fuel cell and as far as roll bars go, they allowed cars with a rear hoop with a door bar on each side (maybe that's a 4 point?, it certainly isn't a full cage).

You can email slim1972@msn.com for the rules.

As for tracks...

Grandview and Wall seem to be the most popular... But don't rule out Chemung or Bridgeport though... I am still waiting to hear back from the promoters of Grandview and Wall...hopefully good news!

MVS...

Sac-man, you are showing interest the same way their regular drivers are at this moment...we all are wondering about the future of MVS. Regardless of reasons why we are not racing there again, nobody ever wants to see a track close up...especially for a Condo development or a Wal-mart...that just sucks! All I can tell you is to stay tuned to their forums and wait and see what is announced.

NJ Rules...

Yes, the NJ rules are more strict than PA rules...BUT!!! But, in most speedway rule books, there is a clause that states: "Promoter reserves the right to change the rules to the way they see fit..." (In a brief summary.)

This means, IF the promoter of the speedway can justify, within safety limits, that a fuel cell is not mandatory, it will not be required...or 4 point roll cage...or full fire suits...etc... NESmay not mandate full roll cages and fuel cells because they can justify that the cars do not have the potential to reach the speeds a full blown race car will reach... Kind of like that...

This can be used to our advantage if NEETS ventures into NJ...but only a little...Wall may have much faster speed potentials than NES, therefore, full cages and fuel cells may be mandatory regardless...

If you're considering Chemung, you might also consider the new track being built by Skyview Drags owner/operator George Swansborough. Supposedly to be called Shangri-La II. To be a half-mile track. Already had a groundbreaking with town officials, so it's not just talk.

According to a press release for the groundbreaking in late Sept, for info contact Track Manager, Amy Culver, at 607-687-9392.

Other contacts can be found at http://www.skyviewdrags.com/pages/cntact.html

The wheelbase we will let slide as long as it is close. The belts must be within the 2 years and the helmet
must be Snell 2000, and the cage needs to have 2 down bars to the front. Also, I have to talk to the state
guys tomorrow at the track and get more clarification on the cage. Thanks.

I found out there must be 2 down bars in the front and one nerf bar bumper height across the door thanks

Yeah, I saw the bonus. You sent me an email on July 30th prior to your meeting with the state racing board. You stated:

"On Wed. I will be talking with the head of the state racing board and I'm trying to see if we can use a little
leniency with the rules. I'm going to try also if the car is 103.5 or so we will work with it trying to get as many cars as possible to make a good show so we can have another in Oct., thanks"

Will there be some "leanincy"?

Looking at the current rules, I don't see a wheelbase change. My belts and helmet are out of date by NJ standards and if I've got a roll bar with two down bars that go to the rear, is that considered a 4 point roll cage? I have an additional driver's side door bar, but it is inside the door skin. I know some things may slide through, but I don't want to make the trip and not be able to run.

Well probably not for NEETS, but for the track and racing in general. This was a post on their website forum yesterday...
"The 2008 season is a go! Please stay tuned for upcoming dates on rules meeting, schedule announcement, etc.
Gena"
I know that OUR 2008 Season will be a go as well. Just waiting for the right track to call home...
