Anybody remember this race at Islip? The reason I'm asking is because a TV Channel from Long Island Filmed the race the year I went. I think it was Around 1975. Maybe the channel was 61? Man that would be something to see today.

Lots of great memories from that race. Jim Landry from NH winning the first one, then needing oxygen to make it to victory lane where he was interviewed sitting on the nerf bar because he was still too weak to stand up! Jarzombek leading almost the whole race one year, only to blow up with about 3 laps to go. Richie Evans drawing about 27th starting spot another year and still winning. Lou Lazzaro winning in the Rose #93 another year. It was a super way to end the Islip season.

What was really great was that the very next day, Freeport ran a 200 lap race for Mods, and it was truly amazing to see how these teams were able to fix cars over night to make them race ready for that race also. Large fields of top name drivers every year, giving us all some truly fantastic memories!!! :)
Man do I miss the days of "home made" modifieds-sigh!!! :*-(

If it was on UHF on Long Island, chances are it was WSNL channel 67. I think Len Calinoff was involved there. The Figure Eight/World Championship demo show was also on that channel around 1978 or so. I always wondered what happened to the stuff from that station when they ceased broadcasting.
Yeah, it was a UHF Channel. How could we find out what happened to their Films ?

I'm pretty sure Len has gone on to the bullring in the sky. His daughter had some stuff on ebay like programs and such, I'm thinking about two years ago.
I think our own Jaws won one of those. Maybe he has some contact info for her. Mike Calinoff is pretty busy these days or I would suggest contacting him. That stuff would be great to have these days for sure.
