I hear that NASCAR will let the mod tour use a spec engine. NASCAR will NOT outlaw the cast iron 18 deg engines that are being used now. In other words, if you want, you can run the spec motor OR still use what you have now.
I hear some of the reason is that the spec motor would be like 1/2 the price of what they have now and would be close in HP/Torque (I guess the spec motor will have different parts than what we have now). It would also not need to be freshened up as often.
This would bring more cars into the tracks that use the tour rules and to the tour itself, but still be able to compete with the big buck motors.
Does anyone have any more info on this ??
