It was in National Speed Sport News that former 1962-1965 NASCAR Sportsman (became the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series) champion, 1963 Islip Sportsman champion and former Modified champion driver Rene Charland is now in a nursing home and experiencing dementia. He's 79 and doesn't have any family.

Sorry to hear of this news. Rene thrilled many a fan in his day. A true Champion. We will keep him in prayer. It's terrible that we can not control time but, time has a way of catching up to all of us. Let us use it wisely while we still have it.
