ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SOUTHERN TIER SPEEDWORLD ENDS WITH A NEW ALL TIME ONE DAY ATTENDANCE RECORD SET FOR THE OAKDALE MALL

The 5th Annual Southern Tier Speedworld presented by Mike Stolarcyk Chevrolet and Country Town Auto Service wrapped up Sunday evening with a very successful three day free to the public race car show. The first event on the local auto racing calendar for 2008 brought out huge numbers of racing fans all weekend long.

Oakdale Mall officials indicated to NEARA Promotions, Inc. who promoted the show that the attendance on Saturday was an all time one day record for the facility which is over 25 years old.

Oakdale Mall officials did not release the actual official attendance figures but did say that for the first time in the history of the Oakdale Mall all major brand name department stores had to call in more help. Because the current staff on duty at all of the stores couldn’t handle the long lines of customers. Also all of the food vendors in the Oakdale Mall did record sales throughout the weekend with most vendors running out of food and drink early Saturday evening.

“ Once again this shows how strong racing is in the area “ said NEARA Promotions, Inc. President Paul Smazl. “ When you can break a one day attendance record at the Oakdale Mall that is quite an accomplishment for sure. Not only am I happy about setting the record but I’m also happy for all of the racers in the show because they got maximum exposure not only for them but also for their sponsors. “

Show Manager Robin Oltz said, “ It’s going to take a while to knock the smile off my face after this weekend. I can’t thank all of the sponsors, racers, race tracks, clubs, organizations and volunteers who participated in making this show one to remember for a very long time. The challenge for next years show is how do we top this years’ show ? “
