Interesting guess, haven't heard that name in a long time. Kenny drove a white ford # 555, formally the Quinn Volgraff # 99, when he fielded his own cars, before driving for Luigi. I purchased that car, maybe 1976, numbered
51K, used it as a backup. Believe it was sold after I left racing by Gary Russell to Quinn's younger brother.

Also in reference to Mike McCormack's post, the last car Quinn drove before driving for Luigi was a white, 64 comet bodied car, number 99, which ended up being driven by John Monte who was hit at the X and flipped it in a championship day race, and the car was found to have a wooden barrel cut in half and covered with leather as a seat. I believe we cut the car up in my driveway after that. In one of my photos you can see the car in my driveway.

Rick was this the car?

Yes, I believe so Bill. It's hard to see the comet side body contour in this photo but the roofline looks the same as my photos. I'm going to scan my 2 photos now.

Okay, here's two photos of Quinn's 64 Comet bodied car. Kinda interesting pair of photos as one I took on practice day when the car was not even finished yet. Unpainted, you can see where the wheel wells were torched and the body panels welded together, then the second photo was championship day after the crash and last race the car was ever in. There's also another photo of the #55 car.

Did anyone notice (#4 photo) the chrome trailer hitch ball on top of the heavy duty front bumper of (photo #3) # 55 race car ???

The ball might have been used to flat tow the car after the races to get it back home. A lot of these guys didn't live very far from the track, and as low budget teams, they didn't have a trailer. On the nights that didn't work out due to wreck damage, a friend with a tow truck usuallly came in handy.:)

Before I turned my 56 ford into the mustang I had a ball on the front bumper for just that reason. I flat towed from Ronkonkoma to Riverhead every friday night. Used a pipe with two hitches on it so no chain was involved. I had to pull the driveshaft out at home and then stop on 58 and put it back in. With all the tools and tires in the car the floor would rub on the shaft, lol. the pits back then were totally sand so it was much easier doing it on 58, lol. Did it for the trip home too. Ah the good old days.

The 55 car was a 1965/6 fastback mustang bodied car. It raced at Islip Speeday, figure8, and possibly Riverhead Raceway.

Wow, I had to opportunity to take that car out in practice. And yes, the seat was a barrell cut out to look like a seat, with a seat cover over it. Holy crow, the stuff we did!

Ken Kerrivan, I might have spelled that wrong

Unless I'm mistaken, Rick wins the cupie doll! And gets an "A" for spelling. I think it's time for the next nostalgia challenge! And if I am mistaken, sorry, but that would be the first time...LOL!

George I was wondering if I missed the answer hidden somewhere, lol. It's usually been revealed by now.

Joe the seat in that car brought about the first real seat rules in our cars. The officials were not too happy when they saw what happened in that crash, between the seat breaking apart and the battery bouncing off John's head. My car had a 66 mustang seat in it. I would slide to the right against the belt and go through the X sitting kinda sideways, then slide ten inches to the left in the next turn and again go through the X sitting sideways. It was definately different back then.
