Johnny Rocco flagged from the late 50's until the mid 60's. Dutch Miller took over until his horrible accident around 1980 or so. Ray Mortuano then became the starter until Islip closed in 1985.

Dwight didn't Carl Miller, Dutch's son, do some filling in or assistant starter work after his father? I may be way off on this but for some reason Carl as a starter too comes to me.

I remember Carl started racing in the Street Stock division at Islip in '79 or '80. #99.

Yeah I wasn't sure. Something just sticks in my mind about Carl. He started in the street stock a couple years after I started racing. I used to have a couple rolls of photos of Carls last modified as it was being built but they disappeared years ago. I have some photos coming of it at Pocono.

Yes Carl was an assistant starter with his father for a little while when he was young.

He was burned in his car. He thew a cigarette out the window and it landed in the back seat and a fire started I believe it happen on a parkway so by the time he stopped the car was in flames and some passer by got him out. He lived for a few weeks but sadly he passed away.
