Sunday Finale, Other Car, Motorcycle Racing Cancelled
MototownUSA has proclaimed six drivers
as inaugural Bud Light 12 Pack Indoor Racing Series champions
since cancelling its scheduled Noon Sunday April 20 finale.
MototownUSA founder Tommy DeFranzo said as of 4 p.m. April
19, that all racing and open practice has been "cancelled until
further notice." Similar announcements are found on the track's
answering machine and on MototownUSA.com.
"We regret to inform you that the rest of the season has been
suspended due to the lack of open practice participation," states
MototownUSA's phone message. "We apologize for any
inconvenience and we did appreciate your business."
"We regret to inform you Mototown has closed for the season,"
declares MototownUSA.com's front page. "All races have been
cancelled!!"
The last news item below the Web site's cancellation notice is
an item featuring picture of a motorized shovel addng to an earth
mound. That April 8 posting, entitled "Track Changes Coming by
April 20!!" reads:
"There'll be an All New Track Layout by April 20. Riders said they
didn't like it, so we're making changes. There'll be major changes,
you won't be disappointed."
The Web site calendar still lists its May 11 - Oct. 15 13-race
Sunday car racing series.
MototownUSA opened Jan. 31, 2005 as a year-round purpose-built
indoor racing facility. The three-story, 207,000-square-foot building
for Motocross and Supercross included a one-quarter- to one-fifth
-mile clay oval first used for go kart flat track racing in winter
2006-07 before inaugurating the Bud Light 12 Pack Indoor Racing
Series Jan. 6, 2008.

750 c.c. MICRO SPRINT: Marc Guerard, Hartford.
600 c.c. MICRO SPRINT: Timex Morgan, Rochester, Mass.
MODIFIED LITE: Sherman Baumann, Moodus, Conn.
FOUR CYLINDER STREET STOCK (TIE - No Relation):
Darren Jacobs, Springfield, Mass., and Joe Jacobs, E. Hartford.
EIGHT CYLINDER STREET STOCK: Jonathen Routhier, Canaan.
NOTE: Anthony Perrego, of Montgomery, N.Y., won the March 16
Slingshots by Tobias feature. The division was to return for a
$1,500-to win feature April 20.
