Next Saturday night will see race #2 of the Pennsylvania Asphalt Modified Championship Series sponsored by www.sundancevacations.com
Matt Hirschman leads the points after a dominating win back on Sunday, April 20. The six race series pays $2500 to win, for the first five events, and concludes at the annual King Of The Mountain weekend. The 150 lap KOTM event came down to the wire last September, with Zane Zeiner overpowering N.Y. veteran Rusty Smith, with just a few laps to go. Earl Paules would have to settle for third as 2008 Mountain Speedway Modified points champion, Zane Zeiner, took home the $4000 top prize. A purse for KOTM has yet to be announced, and all indications are that it should be equal or better than the respectable 2008 payday.
Pits will open at 2 PM, with practice beginning at 4 PM, and racing set to get underway at 6 PM.
Also on the racing card will be the Late Models, Street Stocks, and Thriller divisions.
Sundance Vacations of Wilkes-Barre, PA, will be providing the winner of the PA Asphalt Modified Championship Series, with a 3 bedroom condo in Orlando, Florida during 2009 Speedweeks. Hopefully, Mountain Speedway will have a representative at the World Series of Stock Car Racing, held each February at the New Smyrna Beach Speedway, just minutes from the World Center of Speed, Daytona Beach, Florida.
On Sunday, May 18, round #3 of the Mountain Madness Enduro series sponsored by ABC car crushing and auto parts of Hunlock Creek, PA, will take to the speedway with 100 lap enduros for both the 4-cylinder and 6/8 cylinder race cars, along with the growing Trophy Truck division. A special ladies only race will round out the day for both the 4-cylinders and 6/8 cylinders. Ladies who have not competed in any prior MMES events this season, will be eligible to compete.
Pits will open at 10:30 AM, with racing set to get under way at exactly 2 PM. Enduro event will run rain or shine.
