Perhaps Lee USA Speedway officials should enlist the services of legendary singer John Fogerty, front man for the popular Creedence Clearwater Revival rock band to sing “Who’ll Stop The Rain” because that has become a weekly question from track management and it’s competitors as rain or the threat of that dreaded stuff has delayed the start of weekly Friday night racing at the New Hampshire speedway. This Friday will be the third attempt to kick start the new season. One racing event has been run to date and that was almost a month ago, April 20 to be exact.

Bad weather has been a problem for the Lee facility, a race track that dealt with the wrath of Mother Nature thirteen different times two seasons ago. “I hope this is not a repeat” said Bob Watson, the tracks manager. “The first week was a no brainer, rain everywhere, and then last week, we had hard driving rain south of the border, but here there was little or no rain. Clouds, windy and raw weather, no one wants to sit in that especially when they have children with them.” When reminded that the month of May is half over Watson said, “Heck the Indy 500 is two weeks away and we have not run a weekly show yet, it’s a tough break but we’ll get through it, we’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.”

The Lee management will do it again this Friday night May 16, as part of the fifth annual celebration of NASCAR Day. The national event, celebrated annually on the third Friday in May, is an opportunity for fans, corporations, schools and organizations across the country to donate $5 to the NASCAR Foundation to raise funds for its Family of Charities in an effort to help thousands of children live better lives.

On the speedway, the tracks weekly 6 divisions will be in action, and it will be the first leg of the Watt’s Triple Crown Series and the Bot-l-Gas & R. F. Logic Triple Crown Series for the Pro Four Modifieds. The all new Kids Zone will feature Late Model driver Katrina Canney, visiting with the youngsters. Adult tickets are priced at $10 with children 11-15 $6.00 & under 10 admitted free. Race time is 7:15 PM.
