I saw that car [or same body config] race at ace speedway last month and thought it looked a little strange. But maybe that will bring back some of the days when the cars were a good bit different from each other. I dont think nascar will let that happen though, we'll see. Kinda cool to see the mods out on the track with taxi cabs, makes the mods look even better on the track. Did anybody get a car count for szegedy at the test $$$$$$$$

There are some photos from the spec engine test Tuesday at the end of the Test session Gallery. I have no idea about the times or exactly what they tested. The spec engine test photos start HERE (http://www.racerhub.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=66470)

The motors the 2 runs on the Tour are built(Bruneau and CJM I believe) but they tested a spec motor, not sure if it was a Ford or a Chevy

I was wondering because Howies post above says the pics are of spec testing and the #2 had motors with distributer up front [ford, or chevy R07 which is a nogo for the tour]. I didnt know that Bruneau built ford motors either, thanks for the info.

The spec motors are Chevrolet with distributor and fuel pump at front/top. Spec motors come from Wegner. The 2 car engines are built by CJM and one is by Bob Bruneau- all Fords

I just added a few hundred more photos from this weeks Vintage Oval Celebration at NHMS. There are lots of coupes, coaches, Gremlins, Pintos and Vegas (no Arrows though), even a Monza and a Studebaker. There are midgets, sprints, Indy cars, late models, etc., but not one Cup car. The link is HERE (http://www.racerhub.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=1066)

Howie--- hate to ask you this, but do you have any pics of the old Ford Capri modfieds. That was a cool 70's era modified!

http://www.racerhub.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=66222 THIS is what a real modified should look like in my opinion.

Probably somewhere in the negative books. I remember Dick Dunn in Budda's #3 and an Art Barry car I think. I'd have to go diggin' to find them.

Are the helmets mandatory now?? :)

Apparently for this event. The organizers (not the track) insurance apparently mandated anyone over the pit wall needed a helmet. Since they have a "pen" out on the pit road next to the outer pit wall that we are allowed to use, we are over the pit wall. Makes sense. It is the only time we needed them (or when we are on pit road it self). That shouldn't be a problem at other races, there is no pen out there.

Man, these pics are awesome. I just spent an hour looking thru them.

How cool would it be to have these cars on the track before the modified event or even the cup cars. (i.e. more people should be seeing the history of the sport)
