Thompson Mods Update, Thursday, 3:15 p.m.

Just heard from Howie and here's the scoop:

1. It been raining - not sure how long
2. The Mods are getting one (1) hour of practice
3. The Camping World cars, whose field was set by points, will get 1-1/2 hours of practice
4. The Mods will have a scuff session and....
5. The Mods will time trial

a. The earliest we're looking at Mod time trials would be 5:45 p.m.
b. Present plan, if rain does not allow the Mods to time trial, would be to try
to time trial tomorrow, Friday June 27th in the a.m.

I'll be back with more when either Mr. Howie or Mr. Fran calls me! Linda

NHMS has called off the rest of Thursday's activities.

The field will be set according to the NASCAR rulebook, 38 cars to start so 4 will be going home. They will have no on-track activity tomorrow.

Those who will not be in the feature lineup: 29, 40, 80, and 55

Wow - Four cars will not make the Modified Tour Show.

#29 - Horton
#40 - Coby
#55 -
#80 - McKennedy

1. They towed to New Hampshire...which means approx. $1,000,000,000 in
fuel...
2. More than likely paid for a motel room or rooms...

Yes, I'm sure I'll get hit with the reasoning that everyone was in the same boat, but without time trials, who knows who the four cars going home would have been.

Would it have been such a hardship for NHIS and the Modified Tour to have extended an invite to start in the back? That way:

1. Four teams could have decided whether to stay or go...
2. Four teams could have weighed their options on tires and fuel for the car..

JMO...........What do you think? Linda Case

Bob Bahre would have paid to have the 4 cars race. $3200. would be the cost to the track.

this is from NHMS website why wouldnt they start them all?

Qualifying
Qualifying is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, at 4:30 p.m. (EDT). The better of two laps will determine a driver's official qualifying speed for the New England 100. Starting positions 1 - 37 will be determined by qualifying speeds with the top 30 in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour owner standings guaranteed a starting position. The remainder of the 42-car field will be set as outlined by the event's official entry blank.

Bob Bahre was/is a Modified fan.
He show his support to the Modifieds time and time again.
Racing will miss him not being a track owner

This is nascar you're dealing with. The same sanctioning body that will have 44 cars show up at a Winston/Nextel/Sprint (whatever they call themselves this year) race 3/4 of the way across the country from NC and send the 1 car home. This is also the same nascar that runs 25% or more of the laps for the WMT under caution and then call the race at halfway for a short rain shower.

Nothing they do surprises me....that's why I have not spent on penny at an event of theirs in over 5 years. And, won't ever in the future.
