THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!! :Riverhead- Two 25 lap heat races and 140 lap feature.

Get This!! $2600 to win, $975 for 10th and the bonus cut to $200.:disgusted

I think we reached True Value purses. By next year the Stafford SK feature will be the highest paying race around.

56% of the people say we were the most exciting race and now we lower our selves to these "Sub-Standard Purse" races. We are racing the Tour into extinction.:(

the 100 lapper at Waterford this past Sat paid $2500 to win and they used time trials to set the field. 30 miles of racing, counting yellows

Riverhead will be 41.25 miles, I guess that's why they're paying and extra hundred to win?

Could be worse.
You could be runnin a 20 lap SK Light race for $300 to win.
Plus $50 from Bosch and 5 gallons of Sunoco.
What's the sound of one hand clapping?? :applause:

Alot of people agree with you but what are we going to do about it?
Its time for some of these car owners to stick together!!

the one and only time I saw them stick together was at Waterford when they were told the Seekonk back gate was not going to be $25. that was a proud moment in tour history. I wish I had an answer, I wish I knew how to get all the teams to pull together and say "enough!". let me think about it for a few days, maybe I can bring something to Spencer to hand out. anyone with ideas, PM me. Good, Bad, Ugly, send the ideas.

You can't blame Riverhead. They were done with the tour races and the tour came to them with this proposal for the purse. They didn't say "this is what I'm going to pay". Since 1985 Riverhead had hosted a minimum of 2 tour races every year until last year. They were one of the last "small track" promoters to stick with the tour. Remember, Lee, Monadnok, Richmond, Star, Wall, South Boston, Nazareth, Jennerstown, Watkins Glen, and many others kicked our series to the curb long before Riverhead did. So they supported this series as long as they could, perhaps some of the drivers and car owners should do the same.
Here's an idea perhaps NASCAR with all of their billions may want to kick in to "NASCAR's oldest division" I've said it here a thousand times, NASCAR couldn't kick in a million for this series?? They put in 40,000 for every purse and the promoter has to at least match it?? A lot of great people have grown up in this series, and moved on to all forms of NASCAR. It's a shame NASCAR is going to allow it to die a slow death.

In my 30 plus years of racing...I've never seen anybody doing this for the money. Whether we are paying outragous prices at the gate while racing for peanuts, racers still show up to race. Thats the way its always been. I'm not saying its right, but this is why we will never see any change. Because owners and drivers will still come to the track to race. Until maybe they just run completely out of money and car counts drop considerably. I remember getting all worked up about this subject in the 80's and 90's because the pit fee climbs 60%, but the purses stay the same as they did from the 60's and 70's. My 2 cents.
