Anybody know what happened to Fortin?

The Bullfather
07-17-2008, 10:19 AM
Yeah The Milano family didn't fill up the gas tank, so he couldn't afford to buy 8 tires, he could only buy 4.:lol::lol: He used all his tires up in the heat. Actually I want to know also, he looked good on paper (or screen) from here. I thought he'd have a good night at Seekonk.

Anybody know what happened to Fortin?

Got into a tangle on the backstretch and broke something in rearend, he and car sat in the infield for remainder of race.

No...NOT TRUE! LOL! The fact is that everyone has to run the heat, consi and feature on the same set of tires. He did have lousy luck getting collected in skirmish on the backstretch, when everyone was checking up. And I still don't know why his car wasn't towed to the pits after the accident. Leaving him in the infield for the entire race was just wrong!
I've definately seen much better races at Seekonk, but that's what happens when someone as good as Hirschmann starts on the pole. Anytime the fast cars start up front, you're in for a yawner. It was pretty exciting, though, watching Kirk Alexander patiently drive to the front from 19th. Seems like he finally ran out of tire late in the feature after running hard in the heat and consi. He's an amazingly smooth driver. If Hossfeld wasn't such a good blocker, Kirk might have won. And another great job by Jon McKennedy. He was the fastest car at the end, trying to get by Alexander.

Thanks for the input. I was just surprised to see him that far back in the finish because - as The Bullfather noted - it appeared from this side of the computer screen that he'd have a good night.

I have to agree I thought was not fair to leave that car in the infield. I assumed he hauled from quite a ways, and to have your car sit there the whole time just sucks. The crew could have possibly fixed the car or at least gotten a head start on their long ride home. I thought it was a great race. Yeah Matt lead every lap but there was plenty of action behind him. The second pack of cars were having a great battle among 5 or 6 cars that was really fun to watch. Beers got turned early and I think he had a real fast car and could have been a contender. I can't wait for next year. 35 cars in the pits, heat races, perfect weather and an awesome crowd! What more can you ask for? Maybe some more heavy hitters next year?!:applause:
