View Full Version : Planet Aid Hobby Stock Shootout to Highlight Lee Card

The weekly racing group known as the unpredictable Hobby Stocks will be in the spotlight Friday night when the non-profit organization Planet Aid presents the 50 lap “Doug Ricker Memorial Race” for the popular division. A strong field of entries is expected for the annual event. Friday’s program will also be presented by USG Corp.

Jim Russell, A.J. Panessiti, Wade Worster, Jim Shorey, Chris Titcomb, and Alby Ovitt are just a few of the expected drivers that are entered. Defending champion Brian Thompson and many time champion and former winner of the event, Bobby Glass, are also slated to compete.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly divisions will also be in competition. Last weeks winner, Larry Gelinas, list of entries in the Late Model division, while Eddie Witkum Jr., winner of the “Summer Shootout” race for the Small-Block Super Modifieds, will be back to try and lengthen his point lead for a second consecutive points championship run.

Late Model Sportsman action will find Grant Aither, Bill Ahern, Tony Kawejsza, Bobby Melvin, and Pete Evans entered. Roadrunner aces, Timmy Johnson, Loren Smith, Ricky Porter, and Anthony Nadeau, a first time winner this season, expected. Ironman drivers Rick Fountain, Shane Horvath, and Chris Harding will compete.

Planet Aid, the non-profit organization collects and recycles used clothing and shoes in 19 states in the USA. Items donated to Planet Aid are resold and proceeds are used to support education, community development and HIV/AIDS programs.

Last year over 6,000 pounds of clothing were donated by Lee racing fans. Planet Aid will have a truck unit on speedway grounds where fans can contribute.
