The 2008 Season got off to a slow start at Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH., with rainy weather hampering the efforts of management and competitors alike, but as the season rolled into the summer schedule, the NASCAR sanctioned race facility has been enjoying it’s best year in recent memory. Not only its best in terms of attendance and respectable car counts, but it’s most competitive, with exciting last lap wins that have left fans and speedway officials buzzing.

Three times in two weeks, feature races have been determined on the white flag lap. Two weeks ago, after a 20 lap side by side battle for the lead, the Late Model feature was decided in the final turn with a waving checkered flag at the finish line. Last Friday, the Small Block Super Modified feature was captured when winner Eddie Witkum Jr. passed leader Mike Ordway Jr, one half lap from the finish line. And if that was not enough, Hobby Stock driver Alby Ovitt slipped by race leader Todd Bregy after taking the white flag to go on and win the 50 lap Planet Aid “Doug Ricker Memorial” race. Several drivers finished closely behind the two leaders.

This Friday night, August 8th, the exciting season continues with the Prime Storage sponsored, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series scheduled, featuring third quarter championships in all divisions and double features in the Ironman and the Late Model Sportsman Divisions. Thunderstorms forced officials to postpone three races last week. Those events will be run at the beginning of this week’s race program. Last weeks Late Model race will resume on lap 9 where it was stopped by the inclement weather.

In addition, longtime fans will be treated to a trip down memory lane with an appearance by the Senior Tour Auto Racers, an antique race car club that travels throughout New England displaying restored race cars.

Racing action will get the green flag at 7:15 PM
