Heavy all day rains washed out racing at Spencer Speedway on Friday, August 8. In a season that saw numerous rainy weekends, this amazingly is Spencer’s first complete rainout of the season. That leaves just four weeks remaining on the 2008 Spencer Speedway schedule.

This coming Friday, August 15, will see the NASCAR Weekly Modifieds racing a special 75 lap feature. This race will now be a double point event for the Weekly Modifieds. Also on the race card will be a complete program of Street Stocks and Super Six cars.

On Friday, Aug 22, a tentative NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds 50 lap feature tops the schedule. “Unfortunately we are listing this event as tentative as only seven cars have indicated they will attend this race,” commented Spencer promoter John White . “Many of the regular Spencer Tour Types have been sold or are no longer racing. We will be making a decision about this race in the near future.”

A regular program of NASCAR Weekly Modifieds, Street Stocks and Super Sixes is also on the race card. Laps are currently being sold for this event. A “Lucky 15” format will be used in both the tentative NASCAR Tour Type race and the regularly scheduled 35-lap NASCAR feature. This means a number will be drawn for each lap between 1 and 15 to see which position will get the lap money on that lap. Lap sponsors will be listed on both the www.spencerspeedway.org and the www.raceny.com sites. For more information about buying a lap you can call 716-207-2824 and ask for Lori.

The end of August, Friday the 29th, will see the return of the Kids’ Bike Races for the final time in 2008. Kids are encouraged to be at the track by 6:45 p.m. to register for this event. A complete program of NASCAR Weekly Modifieds, Street Stocks and Super Sixes rounds out the evening. It will be double points for the Super Sixes that night.

The final event at Spencer on the 2008 schedule comes on Friday, September 5. It will be Championship night with all points ending for the season and track champions being crowned. The NASCAR Tour Type modified will be running Twin 25’s, a race that may also be tentative based on available cars, along with a complete regular program of NASCAR Weekly Modifieds, Street Stocks and Super Sixes.

Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester , NY , along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson . Spencer Speedway is the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for upstate New York . Race time each Friday starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship. For more information about Spencer you can go to www.spencerspeedway.org.
