They can be a race fans best friend. We watch them day in, and day out, wondering if they are going to tell us what we want to hear. Perfect weather for Friday night, warm temperatures, slight breezes, shirt sleeve weather, or, that dreaded four letter word, rain. Weather forecasters have become just as important to a race fan, race team, and track operator as anyone. What they have to say dictates how a race fans weekend will play out, how a race team prepares for competition, or if a track owner stands a chance at success.

Lee USA Speedway, Route 125, Lee , NH , bitten badly by the weather bug for several seasons, will defy all odds on Aug 15th, and hope that WMUR-TV9 meteorologist Josh Judge can deliver “a beauty” for the annual Ollie Silva Memorial Classic, a 75 Lap Super Modified race in honor of the late Hall of Fame racer. Silva was a huge fan favorite for three decades. He passed away Aug 15, 2004.

Lee officials advise the popular Channel 9 weatherman has been named Grand Marshall for this Friday’s event. The veteran broadcaster will experience the “wind and high pressure” of the fire breathing 900 Horse powered Super Modifieds first hand when he waves the green flag to officially start the feature race at the home of the original “Classic”

Judge was recently awarded “Best Meteorologist" for the third year in a row in the NH Magazine, "Best of NH" awards for 2008.

The special racing program, presented by E. F. Shea on New England Concrete Products Inc, will also feature the five division NASCAR Whelen All-American Series including, round two of the Small Block Super Modified shootout, presented by Locke Crane Services, Raymond, NH.

Gates open at 2 PM with racing action starting at 6:45 P.M. It is suggested that fans arrive early for the best seating.
