I have learned that a former sponsor on John Fortin's Modified, Nick Deane from Nick's on the Beach in Montauk, passed away on Sunday, after battling brain and lung cancer for more than 2-1/2 years. The arrangements are as follows:

Viewing Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at The Yardley and Pino Funeral Home on 27 just outside of East Hampton. Services Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church in Montauk.

Nick was probably the nicest guy you could ever have met. It was an honor to be called his friend. He will be missed. My condolences to his wife Claire.
