It all comes down to this Saturday:
the final night of racing action in 2008. All four divisions will crown
their champions – and with every race being worth double the points,
anything can still happen.

Tim Brown enters the final event with a 28 points lead over Burt Myers in
the Farm Bureau Insurance Modified Series. Myers was able to once again chip
away at Brown’s points lead on Saturday. Brown won the first race, but
finished 10th in the second race. Myers gained some points with a second
place finish in the first race and a sixth place finish in the second race.

If Myers were to finish seven positions in front of Brown in the
season-ending Carolina Farm Credit 150, then the two would tie each other in
points. The tie-breaker would go to Brown for having the most wins in the
season – so Myers must finish 8 positions ahead of Brown to clinch the
championship.

In the Webb Heating & A/C Co. Sportsman Series, Ronnie Clifton still leads
the way in the points. Kenny Bost won on Saturday and narrowed the points
gap, but Clifton also performed well.

Clifton leads Bost by 40 points - so if Bost were to finish 10 positions
ahead of Clifton, their points totals would be tied. The victories of Bost
would give him the tie-breaker.

Ryan Nelson extended his points lead in last event, being declared the
winner of the race for the 104.1 WTQR Street Stock Series. Nelson crossed
the finish line in third but was elevated to the win after the first two
finishers were disqualified.

Nelson is 26 points higher than David Sumner and 34 points higher than Doug
Wall. With 4 points per position, Sumner could take the championship by
finishing 7 positions ahead of Nelson. Wall would grab the title if he
finished 9 positions ahead of Nelson and 3 positions ahead of Sumner.

In the Time Warner Cable Stadium Stock Series, Johnny Burke came on strong
in last event. Burke flew from dead last to a finish of sixth, keeping him
in the points lead. Points rivals Matt Hill and Dale Barneycastle were
involved in collisions which relegated them to poor finishing positions.

Entering the final event, Burke is 50 points ahead of Barneycastle and 52
points ahead of Hill. Barneycastle would need to finish 13 positions higher
than Burke to win the championship. Hill would need to finish ahead of
Barneycastle and 13 positions ahead of Burke to have a chance. A 13 position
gap would tie Hill and Burke, and the tie-breaker would favor Hill.

This Saturday is the Carolina Farm Credit 150 Season Finale. There will be
racing for all four divisions for one last time in 2008. Ticket gates open
at 6 PM for practice, and the first race is at 8:00 PM. For directions,

I don't know that much about this track but I am surprised that their racing is ending so soon in the season with plenty of good weather still to come? Just curious why...

The track is a football stadium, with the track around the football field. Down south when football starts, racing stops (I guess 'cause they both happen on Saturdays). Birmingham, Alabama was the same way.

Oh wow....that's different. Thanks Howie for the explanation.
