The Spencer Awards Banquet will be held Friday, October 10, at the Ontario Fire Hall on Route 104 in the town of Ontario . Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the speedway.
Space is limited so ticket availability is based on, “a first come, first serve basis.”
Tickets can be obtained by calling Kathy at the speedway (315)589-3018 or by calling her at (631)764-5847.
Honored this year will be the 2008 Spencer Speedway champions: Buck Catalano-Weekly Modifieds, Tony Hanbury-Tour Type Modifieds, Don Stevens-Street Stocks and Keith Butler-Super Sixes.
In the Weekly Modified division the point race came down to the final night of racing, with Buck Catalano clearly knowing where he had to finish to claim his third title in this division. He also won this title in 1996 and 1998.
The Tour Type Modifieds ran a limited schedule, however Tony Hanbury topped the list to pick up his very first Spencer Speedway track title and join the ranks of such greats as Maynard Troyer, Richie Evans, Jerry Cook and Jan Leaty as Spencer Modified champions.
For Don Stevens this will also be his first Spencer Speedway title, as a driver. Along the way he added five feature wins to his growing total of nine Spencer Speedway Street Stock career wins.
Keith Butler was one of the winningest drivers at Spencer in 2008, tying Kris Hillegeer with six feature wins apiece. Each of them drove in the growing Super Six division. For Butler it will also be his first ever Spencer Speedway title.
Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester , NY , along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson . It will again be Upstate NY’s “ NASCAR Place to Race” each and every Friday in 2009.
