View Full Version : Transponders in 2009?
Wheel Racing

One could only guess that the officials are heading that way after hearing that a scorer for the past 11 years was unceremoniously fired today by mail without any notice or explanation. Not even a phone call or even a returned call.Nice job folks. Now I guess we won't have any scorers that can count past 10. I hope everyone likes running 8 laps races. What a shame! The least they could have done was a phone call if they didn't have the balls for a face to face conversation!
I guess the people in charge didn't have a crush on the dismissed party!

Transponders should have been in place years ago! Thats called progress... The problem is that the transponders are easy to install and have teams buy BUT the software and the hardware is not cheap! I'm all for transponders. If the karts have to use them during national events then MODIFIEDS should have them as well as all other divisions... $350.00 to $400.00 investment for a possible win or a couple of positions is worth it.

Not really the point I was making. My point was more related to the lack of apple pies in the press box.
Bulletin Bulletin Bulletin! Just also received word that the speedy dry cleaning machine will have to be run by remote control since apparently more than one letter was sent out. Oh boy! Sounds like another case of "Ready-Fire-Aim" ,you know act before you think.Damn!
It's almost scary that the new season of Survivor starts tonight since we have our own version unfolding before us right here. Who's next? Somebody give Sonny a call and tell him to watch his back. Heads up Sunoco Fred. Sad,Sad,Sad

heard there's many of these letters flying around, i know of one other! Hard work and LOYAL dedication goes nowhere with this crowd. makes you wonder what changes are next, looks downhill from here...
maybe the family reunion that occurred everyweek in the pressbox will be the new crop of officials... no personal attacks, just call it as i see it, wish them ALL the best of luck, hey there gunna need it!!

Wow if things couldnt get worse at this track now we have what 2 scorers up there congrats i wonder whos gonna do all the work now? I mean we cant even get somone to work the scoreboard correctly! How unprofessional the way they fire someone through the mail thats being a coward a dedicated employee who was there every week no matter what for 11 years what a lack of respect for the dedication of this employee. Good luck next year you people will defenitly need it...

:disgusted How many people does it take to screw in a few bulbs on that scoreboard!! Heck , give me the bulbs I will go do it myself just so i can see it all clearly.
If they want to do transponders then so be it. Its a good way of doing things. But from what I see here, firing people without notice from a piece of paper that comes from the postal service??? :help: I know at most any job, usually the boss calls that particular person in the office and tells them what is going on and tries to leave things on good terms. But I guess thats not where this one is going. :disgusted:disgusted:disgusted

What are they going to do next? Take away the Point fund,Trophies and awards dinner!!!!! Oh thats right!!! They did that already. I emailed the track days ago to find out why the top 3 in points in each division don't get Trophies this year. Ya think I got a response?? They fire the people in the office too?

I would venture to guess this is a classic example of them being cheap. I don't know if there is any pay discrepancy based on experience but if so it would appear they just fired two of longer tenure officials, that they'll probably replace with some 16 year old kids they can pay $20/night. Makes perfect business sense right?

Does that mean the 16 year old kids are getting a raise over their predecessors salary?:help:;) And to think, I know one said person actually postponed their own mothers funeral so as to not interfere with their job as a scorer and not leave the track hanging on a particular double weekend. Boy that is dedication. I am glad it was recognized and taken into consideration. It's a shame because I was really looking to race next year, but now I already know that I won't get a fair shot because I opened my mouth here. But I guess thats what should be expected. I do feel sorry for the PR/face of the track because he is always put in bad situations like this and has to find a way to pretty up the picture. He definitely deserves better than the supporting cast he is surrounded by.
BTW- I need a little help with a crossword puzzle: clue is 4 letter word,short for detective _ _ _ _

Neal, thats "Insp." right? Short for inspector, another name for detective? or was it D...... nah, gotta be Insp.

I do not know the specifics of any of this, nor will I comment on it here. However, I would venture to guess the lack of a returned phone call might have something to do with the fact that co-chief steward Mike Cappiello was admitted to the hospital yesterday and is in the process of undergoing tests.

Facts speak for themselves. You can have an opinion of the facts, but our job, here at the Jam, is to state them so you can build an "informed" opinion.

I don't think Mike Cappiello answers the phone in the office. I do hope he is not in the hospital for anything that turns out to be more than routine.
I probably shouldn't, and therefore won't, comment on the firings mentioned here.
Transponders, the subject of this thread, will be helpful in the long run.
Neal, I think the word for your crossword puzzle is d-i-c-.. nah, not going to touch that either.

Well I will make this my last post on the topic(if I can control myself) out of respest for Bob Finan. First I want to extend the most heartfelt best wishes to Mike Cappiello. I hope everything works out for the best as far as health is concerned. Mike was never the issue here. Unfortunately his tag team partner likes the spotlight and power alot more. I think he is readying himslef for a future singles competition and I'm pretty sure I know who he wants for his valet. It is a shame that it came to this. There was finally a list of bogus reasons(being singled out for the same things everyone else does) given today thru a phone call. At least Halloween is around the corner to justify the witch hunt. It's amazing how "what's good for the goose, never seems to be good enough for the gander" Boy and people said Mr. D ruined the track. I am so disgusted. I have always defended the track, the officials and the management, but I can't do that this time. This hits a little too close to home, especially when" the scorecards were always perfect and never in question". Let's get rid of the people who do things right. Nice! Unfortunately I just lost my shot to return to full time racing in 2009 because of fear of another witch hunt aimed my way because of my big mouth. I can't believe that I just found sponsorship to make things happen and now I can't trust the "legal system" plus I don't throw enough parties to invite the "yeunglings" to.
Well Goodnight Gracie!
P.S. Whatever happened to Robin for Chief Steward? It is an election year after all. Let's have the people decide

Neal you are right but you have to do what you love. I have to agree with Supershafts (not in this post but his general message in all his posts). Forget the BS, do what your heart tells you. You love racing, we only do this thing called life once. If you give up your dream because of someone elses agenda you will live to regret it. You cannot let the small minded people get you down. Please do not blend in with a lot of the negativity that breeds on these boards and at the race track. Race because it is what you live to do.
