Pre-race activities have commenced at Thompson with a couple of awards:
- Rookie of the Race Award Highest Rookie in each event - $300 was given to Glen Reen (17)
- Power Ade 'Power Move of the Race Award' for the competitor that advanced the most positions -$750 was given to Rowan Pennick (93)
- Featherlite Award for most improved Award for the driver that has advanced the most positions from last race - $500 was Eric Beers (46)
- Whelen Win of the Race Award - $500 was Mike Stefanik (16)
- Coors Light Pole Award - $500 was Eric Beers (46)
Eric Beers also made history with the Thompson Qualifying by with a time of 18.429 seconds and a speed of 122.090 MPH

NASCAR 60 years of racing awards continued with presentation given to
1955 Champion Bill Widenhouse from NC, 1970 Champion Fred DeSarro and 1969 Champion Carl 'Bugsy' Stevens were honored

30 laps of Pro Stock Racing is now the event on the track

Derek Ramstrom (35) car won the Pro Stock race - it was his four win in 2008

Next on the track is the Late Model 25 lap race

Rick Gentes in the #70 car has won the Thompson Late Model race

Sunoco Modified cars are out on the track next

Tim Sullivan (36) and Jimmy Blewett (12) will bring the field of cars around when the Sunoco Mods start the race

The Sunoco Mods are having a hard time getting going. There have been three cautions and there is not a lap in the books yet
On the last caution Jimmy Blewett did not go on the restart.

Next time around they will try it again

Bert Marvin (07) took the lead from Keith Rocco (6) and the two are now battling for the lead spot

Lap 21 Caution as the #36 car of Tim Sullivan blew up as he reached the end of the front stretch

Caution occurred on Lap 22 as Kerry Malone (99) drove the car out of turn one a little too hard and brought his car and the car of Tommy Cravenho (31) up into the turn two wall

Cravenho's car is being towed as Malone is being held in the infield by officials

Bert Marvin (07) lost the lead for the Sunoco Mod race to Keith Rocc (6) on lap 25

Keith Rocco (6) won the 30 lap Sunoco Mod Race - sixth win at Thompson this year
Followed across the the finish line by: Bert Marvin (07), Josh Sylvester (18, Eric Goodale (20) and Brian McCarthy (87) fo rthe top five

BTW: Jim was out shooting pictures, as he always does. JED was Denise DuPont, Jim's wife, for those who don't know this already.
Thank you Denise for keeping those that couldn't make it updated.
Another thank you for doing the LIVE updates for the WMT race. I really don't know how you do this. Great work!!!
