Dangerous and what could have been a very detrimental occurrence to NASCAR if something like a blown tire, at the very least, at hurt someone.
Thankfully nothing happened but I think he needs to visit the big red trailer Tuesday. :disgusted:disgusted

They shouldn't have been standing there. They knew he was going to do donuts, he won the championship for cryin out loud.... haha

Maybe not victory circle but Champion Circle! They have to push the cars into Victory Circle the past few years, they don't allow drivers to run their cars into victory lane. The same rules should apply!

Plus Jimmie already did his burnout and dounuts before that point and time! If you noticed the whole weekend, they made the title winners sit in turn 3 while the winner went to victory lane as they brought out the championship truck and trailer on the frontstretch. Why he did another burnout while headed towards a crowd of people is beyond stupid!

Lol no drag racing fans here i see.. That's nothing but a guy standing on the gas pedal and brake balance set full forward....

I can see the nervousness of being around such a activity from a guy who makes turns all day though ... lol

whooooooooooaaaaaaaa I've been around Hot rodding and racing my whole life and have seen many burnouts that seemed like they were in control, but incidents happen! I can show you hundreds of youtube videos of cars doing burnouts with crowds around, tell me how safe that is??? I can also find tons of new articles of controlled burnouts gone wrong! I remember being up in Mass., they had controlled burnouts, lucky enough my family went back to the hotel. Next morning all over the paper and news a few people got hit! It doesn't matter who you are, accidents happen! I've seen them on cruise nights, next thing the cruise night is shut down by the police. What's a good rule from NASCAR in one area (victory lane) should go for the same in another area (championship lane)
Burnouts in drag racing should only be for the strip! I'm not against burnouts but safety of human life in first.

It doesn't matter if I am a fan of Jimmy's or not. Like Pete said, we have been around rodding for years and have seen accidents happen. Heck, accidents happen everyday.

In racing, no matter what safety precautions are taken, people get hurt. Isn't that correct? They have accidents on the track, get hurt, in some cases even die. And that is with as many safety precautions as possible. What safety precautions did Jimmy apply to insure no one was put in jeopardy? Just because he won the Championship makes him less prone to something happening or going terribly wrong?

Anyone with half a brain would never pull off what Jimmy did with so many people around. I can understand his excitement and adrenaline rush but give me a break.

Marty, I know about brake bias and about power braking, I was talking about blowing a tire and parts of that tire and possibly sheet metal being tossed into the crowd.

This post won't matter because people will believe what they want to believe anyway until some fool does this again and something happens. Then those that have said, what's so wrong about it will say, What a dumb jerk? What the heck is a matter with him? Didn't he think that maybe............

Go on, tell me I'm wrong.

Go on, tell me I'm wrong.I believe you are totally correct and something should be said, officially, by NASCAR, that this will never occur again. It was way dangerous, no matter what the reason. Jimmie is a good guy, but he needs to be told, along with all the other driver's, that this type of thing is just totally unacceptable. Case Closed.
