Rear Gear

What is a good rear gear to start out with? I have turbo 350 tranny.

If you run 1st gear in your 350THM a 2:73 rear will give you about a 6:88 final drive, a 2:23 rear will give you about a 5:62 final drive...................................
If you run 2nd gear a 3:73 will give you about a 5:67 final drive and a 4:11 gear will give you about a 6:34 final drive.............
It really depends what rpm your motor makes the most power.................

A 4.11 ring + pinion with a turbo 350 in 2nd gear, is more like a 6.16...a good starting point for Thriller. I have a set for a 7.5, if you need them.

Second gear in a normal 350THM is 1:52 to 1.........do the math=6.2372 final drive.......................

thats some good info petey. how bout a little help with the wall ratios... i should be there with a 76 monti. th 350..... im thinking 3.73 and 2nd...... am i on the right track petey??? my motor likes 5600 rpm and power starts at around 2400

Wall loves alotta gear outa the turns, if you have the right sneakers..................
3.73 to 4.11's should work for ya, you shouldn't have to drop below 3500rpm in the turns...................
