Google, our future overlords, has been kind enough to place the Life Magazine photo archives online. While I am not certain if the project is complete, you can search it using a standard Google image search. The images are tagged with some major keywords, but they are not complete, so you might want to search around a bit to find something interesting.
Each image can be purchased from Life in a framed format.

(If you are aware if this feature, I apologize for taking your time.)

Here are two searches to get you started.

For Stock Cars
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=stock+car+source%3Alife&btnG=Search+Images

For Auto Racing
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=auto+racing+source%3Alife&btnG=Search+Images

To make your own search, just go to images.google.com
On the search line enter your topic and follow with "source:life"

So, looking for pictures of classic midgets would be done with

midget racing source:life

If you do that search, there is a classic picture of a midget on three wheels that is just awesome.

Also, I found a few very early Modified pictures, including one of an old Will Cagle coupe.

And JA. If you guys want to do a monthly Internet Find feature for Speedway Illustrated, just let me know. I pitched it to Stock Car and never heard back. :)

Been spending hours there the past few days. They cover just about everything. I've been saving so many vintage photos to my files I'm afraid I'm going to fill my hard drive. My E drive took a dump so I can't save them there. Well worth the time spent visiting the above site. :applause::cool:

If you run out of hard drive space, copy them to CD and save them that way. Just label them with a Sharpie so you know what you have.

He can't do anything with the disc drive, has to get fixed on his laptop, so DLing to the CD isn't possible at this time for his computer. Awesome photos though!

Sorry, I should have made that clearer. My E drive is my DVD/CD driver.

You could use something like Mozy Free Home

https://mozy.com/home

You get 2Gigs of free media storage. It would be a good idea to save your photos and media. Then you can get that laptop fixed.

There are other things like this online, just Googe free media storage.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look at that.
