I'm looking for pictures of 68 or 69 chevelle street stocks or late model .We are running a 69 body on a new street stock at mountian and want some ideas on how to make it look .So Ricky look thru all your pictures and come up with some good looking cars ,so I can get some ideas.

Check the pics from the Turkey Derby. There was a 69 there. But I am also looking forward to whatever pics people find. There was a time when the whole Novice/Charger division was filled with those bodies.

peggy smith ran a 69 chevelle body.very clean car.if you can find pics of that.actually there were lots of chevelle bodies.that was the best of times.

He also ran that car at Rverhead. Not to sure on how many times. I remember I was about 5 or 6 and the motor blew. That's the only time i remember it.

But aren't we close to the point where cutting up a 69 Chevelle for a race car is almost a crime?

Which is not to say I don't love the Chevelle's.. nothing says race car quite like a Chevelle, but they are getting more and more rare. Any chance you can save that car and use something else, like yet another 80's Regal/Monte/Prix?

And Artie Tappen Jr. ran a very nice Chevelle. Not quite as typically Long Island as the #1 posted previously, but still a very nice car.

Not only is it a 69 but its also a Super Sport 396. we cant use any other car because it is a chevelle chassis and we dont wanna be like everyone else. Thats why the other street stock is a 78 nova. So sorry to say but get the sawzall ready!

If I think about how many Chevelles (and Cuda/Challengers) we gutted and cut for race car bodies back then, it just kills me. They were plentifull and nobody thought about it. Nowadays with B/J everyone looks at it differently. I would think that it prolly isn't a numbers matching 98 point plus show car. I know where there is a 68 chevelle sitting in a garage in E Meadow, The old gal who owns it will not let it go. (and she is in a wheel chair!!) It isn't pretty, but it is all there. My oldest son wants it for his first car.(everyone has to have dreams...) My point is, they are still out there. And the "perfect" ones will get saved. The rest, hopefully will do what they do best, get driven.

Give me a call. I might have some good news for you.
Some chevelles that stand out in my mind was Bruno Brackey's, which I remember as a Late Model at Freeport the last few years they were open, and Jim Malone's '65 Maliibu with the Corwith colors. I believe Rick G. also won the track championship at Evergreen(Mountain) with a Chevelle.

Peggy's car was sharp. That was Rich Vlacci's charger in 1989 or 1990??
I remember tricking out the front end with painted headlights and we wrecked the front on our first ever race and never replaced them.....
I am looking for a Peggy shot I know I have somewhere and some of Richie's tan #10.
