Amelia R. Mitchell
Amelia R. (Mimi) Mitchell, 70, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2009, with her family by her side. She was married for 50 years to Charles R. Mitchell of Norwalk. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Antoinette (Maniglio) Renzulli.

Born in Norwalk on September 17, 1938, Mimi grew up helping her parents farm for their dairy business, Valley Brook Farms. She attended local schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and Class Secretary. Mimi went to Merrill Business School, and then went on to work for over 30 years with her family operating the Golden Crest Motel on Westport Avenue in Norwalk. She continued to serve the Corporation as an Officer until her death.

In her retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing golf, and enjoying time at her homes in North Carolina, and Stuart, Florida. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who had a zest for life, a contagious smile, and a deep love for her family and friends. To know her was to love her.

Her family would like to thank Yale New Haven Hospital's Oncology Department, and the Connecticut Hospice for the outstanding care she received from both of these organizations.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Charles (Chuck) and his wife Karen, James (Jimmy) and his wife Jane, and Dennis and his wife Kathy, along with her grandchildren Jessica, Ryan, Matthew and Shane Mitchell. Also her three sisters, Anita Leduc and her husband Ray, Annette Longmuir and her husband Bob, and Audrey Roos, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Oncology Dept. at Yale New Haven Hospital, or Connecticut Hospice in her memory.

Friends may call on the family, Wednesday March 4, at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
