Lets face it for northern teams to haul down there for three days the expenses out way the purse. If you win it might cover the expenses but if you finish outside the top three you would not doubt be wasting your time.If you don't believe it just go back and look at the payoff for places 3 thru say 10.Its just like the TVMRS if you win fine if not I can't see how teams can even afford to do it.

It is sad if it has come to Northern teams not showing up for this race because it had become one of the best races for the mods with the amount of competition that began to show up annually. Maybe if there is a significant downfall in the amount of teams that show up they can get it right next year?

Worst economy in 60 years. Job losses at an all time high. Yeah it makes a helluva lot of since to make racing more expensive per weekend. I swear, I wish I had the intelligence that these morons have. I haven't sit down and figured it all up, but I would imagine that you would have to pretty much win the race to even come close to breaking even. Thats if if you live here.

then on top of that the first two races of the year frost bite and caraway they are using different tires from one week to the next

JinxNC
03-05-2009, 02:51 PM
In defense of the Frost Bite, first it is an ASA sanction race, and second they went with close to the most inexpensive option on tires. Their purse is a little better as well. They also did away with the heats and went with a two day qualifying option. Obviously all cost cutting moves. Should be a great day and hopefully a good race. I hope it is the same for Caraway the following week, but i have my doubts.

Teams don't have to be there at Caraway on Friday, do they? It is just an optional parking deal, right?

I look forward to Orange County this weekend and a double header of South Boston on Saturday and Caraway on Sunday next weekend.

Just read the purses posted by Ben what a joke when will people figure it out it doesn't cover he expenses to go.The economic times of today nobreaks for the fans at the gate,no help for the teams just The great sanctioning body and the tracks getting fatter and fatter.I know I sound like a broken record but the truths the truth.

What are they charging to get in the pits this weekend?

03-08-2009, 06:08 PM
This is just a guess but from in the past $30.00 with $25.00 if you got NASACR licence. That is just for 1 day.The price will be posted on Caraway website soon.Grandstands are $10.00 on saturday and $20.00 sunday.

Sandra
03-08-2009, 08:10 PM
So, this is $60 for the weekend or $50 if you have Nascar license. I know we have paid that much at Thompson to get in, but we are running for $6,000 to win. At Caraway we are running for $2,000 to win.

RaceMa
03-09-2009, 08:38 AM
On the Caraway Speedway website it says the price will be $20.00 for race day $10 for qualifying day.

It sure won't be from the grandstands, they have raised the ticket prices for EVERY event this year to $20, they were already the highest in this region at $12. Instead of 35 people in the stands like last year, there will be 21.

If Caraway is going to raise the prices that much...maybe they should invest in things like:

Better track lighting
Better seating in all the grandstands , instead of just one new section
Better drainage in the infield , so they don't have a lake in the infield like they did for last July's rainout

and last but not least

Modifieds run on a weekly basis!

In the case where they only have one day to run because the other got rained out...how would they go about qualifying, time trials...etc, etc.. and run the races all in one day..esp with 2 major events planned

Come to Hickory for the UARA race Saturday, over 50 cars expected, and I promise they will race if we have to start at 3am, they never cancel.

I disagree. The mods always draw a good crowd, and $20 for 150 laps mod and 200 laps LMSC is incredibly reasonable. $5000 to win for the boring race will draw a lot of fans, whether we like that division or not. (Weather will change most of what I just said.)

I wasn't talking about the mods Mudcat, I would pay $20 to see them anywhere. Look back at the post I was refering to, he was talking about paying the purse for the late-models. All of them are supposed to be $5000 to win this year.

I apologize. Speed-reading wins again, huh? I thought most of them were paying $3500 to win, but regardless, that will draw a good field of cars. Even then, they are still NASCAR LMSC, and if my grass starts growing, that will be just as good of a show. Caraway is 20 minutes from home, and that is too far to travel for those cars. The UARA tour is a whole different deal though.

If they have over 20 cars, it will pay $5000 to win each week, thats the last I heard, then again nobody really knows for sure. And your right about the UARA, it's alot different than your run of the mill LMSC, I covered them exclusively last year and every race was good. If ya get bored Saturday, come to Hickory and we can watch 50 cars sit in the pits under a cover LOL.
