the BIG ONE was caused when a hose or the motor blew on Lou's car watering down the track while he was running 2nd. Stefanik's car took a nasty spill into the wall that was infront of the opening where the cars came on the track and the rear end was just about ripped off the car... Alot of people/ officials were standing in that opening(lucky no one was hurt). then the rest of the field piled in behind them... One driver was taking out on a back board for precautionary measures... (sorry can't remember the name)

T.C. tagged the back stretch wall around half way and got up in the air... looked like it bent up some stuff a little bit. FROM MY FRONT ROW SEAT AT THE START FINISH LINE during the hot laps after the red you could tell something finally broke on it and you could see the right front rolling over a way it shouldn't have, so the officials send him off the track...

The report and finish are on the front page of TheChromeHorn.

Someone asked on the live updates why the race was cut short after 20 laps. It was scheduled to be 20 laps.

There is a run down of the event on the front page now.
Also, Friday was to be 20 laps and tonight 30 laps.
Also, admission is more tonight by $5.
Race was not cut short.

I spoke to Len Sammons after the event last night. He was pleased with the turnout, but mentioned it was a little short of the Friday crowd in Atlantic City, just to use the comparison. But AC does have more to do with the Expo and the casinos. He also told me the folks at the Dunk were very pleased on how things were going. I look for this to become a regular feature on the Southern New England scene for a while.

Cicconi's car is bent, to the point Lou wasn't sure if he would be able to get it back together. Wayne Darling was offering help to any of the teams that needed it, from parts to his shop.

It was a great show. If you can make it, come on down.

I just spoke with Cicconi. He said that he did have a car on its way but he cancelled it because Matt Roselli is ill. Cicconi will pilot Roselli's car tonight.

Jeff Hoetzler was taken to the hospital for observation, but he was released last night and is sore but okay. His equipment - as well as that of his son - has been removed from the garage area and I have been informed that the team has returned home.

Congrats to Teddy. Awesome racing, what a shot in the arm. Just what we needed to fight off the winter blues! Too bad Mike Stefanik dropped out early, would have liked to see he and Ted finish top five together. I hope they do this again next year....Great time for sure!

what an awesome time, went both friday and saturday night,i hope they come back next year. still a month away from the icebreaker so this helps the dull time of the winter become a little bit more exciting. i think we will also go to atalntic city next year. thsoe races were so cool and fun to watch. congrats tc :)

I was mistaken in my post yesterday about both Hoetzler and his son returning home. Jeff Hoetzler did, indeed, return home before Saturday night's events. His son, Jeff Jr., however, did return for the competition yesterday. He ran both a heat and the consi, but did not qualify.

I was assured by Hoetzler's car owner, Michael Sweet, that Jeff was okay but sore when he returned home.

Overall, all I can say about the Providence event is...awesome. It was a great event with lots of great drivers and super racing action. I, for one, hope that it is only the first annual event.

If the footage arrived safely in Charlotte there should be some short highlights on the SPEED Report tonight at 7pm.

I'll have quite a bit on my site in the next couple days.

I was able to make it Saturday night, and brought my 4 year old, and 2 year old... and what a great time we had! Congrats to TC on the win, even though Cicconi was the class of the field(in someone else's car), just not enough time to get around, and is a very classy driver for not using the chrome horn to move him out of the way(He also apologized for what happened Fri. night). Santos' move to get to 2nd in the consi was sick! he had to run on the edge just to try to get in the show, which is why he spun a few times. Felt real bad for Steffy for breaking, he had a real shot at the win, and looked pretty smooth for not having any experience in the cars before. The MC guy-Shane, did a good job of keeping people entertained and informed, he made the lulls in the action pass so much easier. Also a great big thank you to all the support staff of the event-the corner marshalls, officials, etc. The were all on their game all night, as any hesitation by them, could result in tragedy...with such close quarters, timing is everything. All in all, even though the early action seemed like a SK race, with all the spinouts & cautions, it was a very professional, entertaining, well run event, that kept a 2 year old engaged for most of the time, and I, for one, am certainly looking forward to seeing it again! Thanks to all involved.

They did announce during the victory interview that they will be back next year. I am thrilled to hear that. As far as the track crew, for the most part at least, they are the same ones that work the Atlantic City indoor races which I attend every year. Mr Sammons has nothing but the best working for him and thats why the show goes off so smoothly.

I can't remember exactly what he said, but I think TC told me something about a strut rod in the rear coming off during the heat race and the car was "doing whatever it wanted" and he just held on to qualify. Props to those guys for getting the problem fixed and putting the car in contention.

Tough break for Stefanik - his car looked stout up until the mechanical issues. He was definetly a fan favorite judging the ovations at driver introduction. I thought there would be more cautions, too. So props to everyone for the clean racing out there.

What a show Cicconi and TC put on at the end there. It looked like Lou might've been able to pull off an outside run if he had the room.

Overall, great showcase of the TQs/600s as well as the champ karts. I hope there can be more shows at the Dunkin' Donuts center - maybe add in another show in addition to the one following Atlantic City?
