The 2nd annual Dirt Track Heroes Race Car Show will return to the Phillipsburg Mall for nine days beginning Saturday, March 7th.
The 2nd annual Dirt Track Heroes Race Car Show will return to the Phillipsburg Mall on Saturday, March 7th and continue through Sunday, March 15th. Phillipsburg Mall will once again be filled with many restored and current day race cars as well as daily activities that have been planned to compliment the many exhibits that will be a part of the show. The IRCO Federal Credit Union is returning as the sponsor of this year’s Dirt Track Heroes Race Car Show that has been expanded to run for nine days this year.
The Phillipsburg Mall’s IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Race Car Show was created in 2008 to honor the many great drivers, owners, crew members and race fans who took part in racing events at the Harmony, Nazareth, Flemington and Reading Speedways. During last year’s inaugural event, the mall experienced record attendance throughout the entire week of the show. In addition, more than one hundred drivers attended to be interviewed and participate in a meet and greet autograph session with the thousands of avid racing fans who visited.
One of the many new features to the 2009 Dirt Track Heroes Race Car Show will be the America On Wheels display. Staff members from America On Wheels will be on hand to talk about this over-the-road transportation museum that is dedicated to presenting and preserving the history of American transportation. Currently the changing gallery exhibit features more than 30 oval-track race cars which include a tribute to Mario Andretti. Numerous speedways will also be present at this year’s show to introduce the thousands of mall visitors to the area’s many speedways and to hand out their race schedules. Some of the race tracks who are expected to participate include Borger’s Speedway, Bridgeport, Grandview, Hamlin, Kutztown, New Egypt and Snydersville. As this show has a goal to assist in preserving the history of racing, there will also be a display from the Reading Fairgrounds Historical Society. An event t-shirt and program book is also in the design stages for this annual event.

Mall hours throughout the week of the show are Monday thru Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. The current schedule of events is as follows but is subject to change. Some additions are anticipated.

Sunday, March 8th: 1pm - Dirt Track Heroes Reunion autograph session.
Monday, March 9th: 6:30pm - Hamlin Speedway night.

Wednesday, March 11th: 6:30pm – New Egypt Speedway night with East Windsor Speedway.
