Appreciate the list RGee. This list pales in comparison to the Icebreaker Roster. Looks Like Andy Seuss is going to be doing double duty this weekend between both races. So far looks like Saturdays weather is looking good

Thanks, Rich. Total noob here on videos. I went out and bought a Sony Handycam thinking I could shoot the race, come home and post it on Photobucket right away. Instead, it uploaded each file as a video. I ended up with 30 separate short videos rather than one long video. Took me all week to figure out I needed another editing program in addition to what came with the camera. :disgusted

I hope to get more practice at Caraway this weekend and maybe I'll have it down by the time Bristol rolls around.

Yup, that's how video goes. Each time you stop it makes a seperate file and the raw video is HUGE!!! Not sure what format you are rendering to but WMV works out to be the best for quality and a workable web size. I use Sony Vegas for editing and have had very good luck with it. Does the cam use mini dv tapes? If so, do not record over the movies....save the originals on the tape for future use and buy more tapes. They are a bit expensive but saves storage space for the videos....

I went with the DCR-DVD650 (on sale) thinking that the mini dvds would be the way to go. But the more reviews I read, the more I wish I'd gone with one of the dv tape camcorders.
I downloaded a trial version of Vegas Pro 8 and combining the files in wmv format was quick and easy. Too bad you can't do it with the PMB software that came with the camera.

Thanks again for the info! And I think I'll invest in a tripod. :D

If you just bought it, exchange it!!! LOL
No need for a tripod, get the stick type (http://www.geocachingonline.com/geoblog/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/07_03_08_8th_a_hiking_stick_a_tripod_yes_its-both_01.jpg)(on left). Needs less room and easier to move from spot to spot. Funny, I was going to ask if you used a tripod as the video is pretty stable. Of course, the more you zoom, the more shakey it gets.....
