Despite a very windy and overcast day, a decent number of race teams came out to Mahoning Valley Speedway this past Saturday afternoon to practice and prepare for the upcoming season opener on April 18 starting at 6:00pm.
There will be one more opportunity for teams to test and tune as this coming Saturday April 11 from noon till 4:00pm, the track will have its final paid practice session. Grandstand admission will again be free of charge.
Will practice make perfect? That question will be answered on Opening Day one week later as the season official kicks off at the paved Lehighton quarter-mile oval.
The Modifieds will headline the evening with a special 100-lap, $3000 to win main event which is the first race of the Mahoning Modified 100 Poker Series.
Time trials will be held which will lock in the top-12 on speed. All others will contest in heat and consolation races. There will be a redraw among the lead dozen.
The Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Modifieds and Pro4 Late Models will also be in action.
On Saturday, April 25, the 600cc Modifieds will be on the card along with all regular track classes.
Located just west of Lehighton on PA Route 443, racing will be held every Saturday night starting with the April 18 opener and continuing through October 3.
